Just wondering about the rsr's that are created when you save to the library. Are they just the little pictures or are they more than that? Are there differences between the libraries rsr's ie. pose, lights, camera?

no diff. - Library .RSR's are just the thumbnail images. - Geometry .RSR's are hex versions of the ascii .obj files. - And there is a bug in the PC version of Poser that occasionally creates a third type of .RSR's when .pz3's with a background image is saved. This third type does nothing and can be deleted.

Ive been trying to make MAT files and I make a 91x91 png to go with it in the pose library. It works on my machine, do i really need an .rsr or is a .png OK?

.png's are shrugging guys in Poser 4.

You only need the image .rsr's in P4. As kieraw, pointed out, P4 will not display .png's as library thumbnails.

hey guys wait up, I am writing a tutorial on how to create rsr's from your png's for poser4 without actually using poser4. Also customized png's too. Should have it written by the weekend, damned day job gets in the way hehehehe.

Poser 4 will NOT display .png's as colored thumbnails. Poser Pro Pack uses .pngs, Poser 4 does not.

So lets get this right We have two file extensions .rsr that are different, and one of the .rsr is being replaced by a compressed thumbnail .png which the bulk of the real world does not know about, while access and computer speeds have increased Wow

I hate to beat a dead horse but am I understanding correctly it is impossible to make a .rsr to accompany a MAT file using pro pack so it can have an accompanying thumbnail in Poser4? I make a MAT, apply it, add it to my pose library and it creates a .png. The .rsr converter in free stuff asks for your .pict image and also the "old" .rsr (which i aint got), so apparently that's not an option. Thanks for your patience everyone :)

No, it's not impossible... You can render a picture of your image at 600x600, save it as a PICT, resize it to 91x91, save it as a PICT, and then use RSR convert to make it into an RSR from a PICT.

That 91x91 size for the Pro Pack PNGs is only a recomended size. You can have any size PNG in your library. It'll get chopped horizontaly at around 110 pixels, but verticaly there's no limit. I like to keep a few Library snaps at 100x300 if there's special detail I'd like to see that would be lost at a smaller size.

THat's for Pro Pack though.. pretty sure Poser 4 requires 91x91, which is what Mizlaura was asking about. I could be wrong.
