Nothing could possibly top that steampunk spider from Wild Wild West.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement. But what about the question? What can anyone else cook up. It doesn't have to be finished renders, or even polished designs, sketches, descriptions, low poly models - anything! Lets see some vehicles/machines. What can all you talented people do?

Zardoz - er WOW! Tell me more. What software did you model it in? Did you work from plans or photographs? I LOVE the bridge. Was that made in Bryce with the terrain editor or a solid with boolean cuts? Have you ever thought of doing a modelling tutorial to show your techniqes? Sorry I'm babbling but I've never had the self discipline to model something real like that. Thanks for the post - Now anyone else?

Thanks peejay, but this was made with Lightwave 6.5. I had some photos and some elevations, unfortunately not enough sections, so I had to guess a lot. I almost used the standard tools like extrude, bevel, lathe .... Very basic everything, just a lot of work ;-). Talking about Bryce and vehicles, you should take a look at the gallery of this guy: http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?Start=1&Artist=Bambam131&ByArtist=Yes Found it a few days ago and I was really enthusiastic about his work.

Thanks Zardoz, Bambam can really do the business - wonderful stuff.

All right, peejay, if you really want an answer to your question ... I hope a description will do since I never modelled or rendered it. The weirdest form of transport I ever dreamed up was a dragonship manned by insane dwarven pirates. Think of it as a cross between Nemo's Nautilus and a Viking longship, carved entirely from stone, and kept afloat with magical runes. The sails resembled wings. The neck was fully articulated, and a gunner sat in the head, armed with a flamethrower.

If it was kept afloat with magical runes, could it actually hover ABOVE the water? Sounds a bit like something from Discworld. Were the winglike sails made of stone as well? Thanks for the reply. I like the idea of a stone ship.
Little_Dragon posted Wed, 09 January 2002 at 11:45 PM
Those dwarves had almost every square inch of that boat covered in runes, and it still rode low in the water. The magic added to the buoyancy, but it wasn't enough to make it airborne. Nor would they have wanted it airborne. Dwarves aren't comfortable with heights. (Of course, they aren't supposed to be comfortable with water, either. But as I said, these guys were insane.) The sails were made from leather, actually. They were mostly for looks. The ship was propelled by oars. The pirates had a great con-job going, terrorizing passing ships in the fog, convincing them that a real dragon was attacking. They eventually tangled with the wrong band of adventurers. Frankly, I'm rather glad that the ship's at the bottom of the sea now. They were a rather silly lot. You're right. It does sound like something from Pratchett's Discworld.

here is the only vehicle I ever made. It was for a challenge in the Rhino forum. It was modeled in Rhino and rendered in Bryce. Its mainly built of lofts and sweeps. I posted a link to the [thread also](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=222605)Modulok posted Sun, 13 January 2002 at 11:28 AM

I don't like your rendertime, modulok ;) it's already this high without any texturework... are you gona model sebulba, too ? maybe I should give that a try... Does anyone have some reference-images for sebulba himself ?
