ok, i'm new to poser but i'm trying to use it to make models for a game i'm designing...basically, i'm looking for tutorials and downloads for a army soldier model and i have a few specific questions that i need help with:

  1. is there a tutorial about how i could create a texture for the soldier's camo??
  2. are there tutorials about creating weapons (guns, knives, etc.)?? i assume that these will be just props but i have no idea how to go about creating them...
  3. i'm using poser only for the models but i'm trying to use these models with 3D Studio. i've tried exporting them as *.obj files but these never show up in 3D Studio. i think i also tried exporting as a *.dxf file, but the texture didn't show up at all although the figure itself did. by that, i mean that it had no features to distinguish it as a human (no eyes, nose, mouth, fingers, etc)...basically, it had no skin. i have no idea what's wrong...

any help that u guys can provide will be greatly appreciated...thanks :)

3D Studio uses .3ds files. You can get plugins for it that will handle .obj files and if you really want to use models from 3DS in Poser (or the other way around) I'd suggest you do that. Poser has some basic ability to handle .3ds files but it's not good. I've never seen any tutorials on the first two things on your list. I'd suggest you go for general 3DS modelling tutes and adapt them to what you are doing. There are very few texturing tutes around of any description. Camo shouldn't be too hard though.

There's a cool camouflage plugin for Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro available at this link. Great thing about it is that it's free!! :)
