The Dragonstar Company is now in the marketplace! Only $20.00 gets you a mounted knight in full armor, barded warhorse, and two different men at arms, as well as a separate CR2 for just the hauberk for use in your own characters! Definitely worth the $20.00 !!!

are those scales in texture or in the mesh? just wondering cos i would want to shrink them or change them to something other than scales... and if they're in the mesh i couldn't do that. nice collection. :)

The scales are bump and texmap, so convert them to your heart's content!

To date, I have sold exactly ONE copy of the Dragonstar Company. However, I went ahead and posted a new "Chainmail" texture for the hauberk into freestuff, hoping to stimulate sales a little. To date, there have been 77 downloads of the texture. Heh, I wish 77 people would have bought the Dragonstar Company...

Valandar - none of my business to tell you how to think, but...I have one (donation) clothing item for sale in the Marketplace. It has sold just short of 50 copies (it's only 5$). With the kind hosting help of Shadowcat, I also have a few items in freestuff. Each of them has been d/l'ed about 1000 times. If that many people had bought the marketplace item, and thereby supported R'osity... ;-) IMHO these figures don't mean your (sales) stuff is not admired - it just means that not every admirer is doing the kinds of pictures that call for said stuff, or can afford said stuff. I for one think your knight is visually stunning, and (having done some armor myself) an impressive piece of work. I just don't do any pictures at the moment. Not very useful appreciation for you, I know, but don't let it kill your enthusiasm. You do great stuff, it's just that you're up against the free-to-buy ratio hinted at above. We all are.

Umm, Thip... I'm saying that only one person has bought the product that the texture map is for, but as of now, well over a hundred have downloaded the texture.

If you're talking warez suspicion, I've had the dubious pleasure of seeing my stuff on warez lists, too. Take it as a compliment ;-)

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 19 January 2002 at 7:23 PM

Don't worry about the warez issue. I suspect that a lot of people here at Renderosity are packrats at heart, like me. They'll download something just on the off chance that they need it later. And considering how often the webspace sites (that these items are often stored on) shut down, they might download stuff immediately because they're worried that it won't be available later. Other people might want the download to see if they can adapt the textures to other items. I almost clicked on your texture map myself, before I read that it was for your commercial product, which I don't have. I did get your doublet, however, and I thank you for it. thip's right. Nothing sells quite like free stuff.

No, I'm not talking about warez. I'm just finding it humorous that people seize upon textures in the hopes they'll find something to use it with. 8-D And, funny thing, the only thing of mine I've ever seen warezed was someone told me that several heroes I had done for the 3D-CC were on a newsgroup, rar'ed up... since they were free, I wasn't that worried.
