Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 12:50 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
I don't really know anything about Z-Brush, but exporting from poser can be a bit tricky. First, you don't need to actually delete anything, just use the export Wavefront object, when the hierarchy list comes up, uncheck universe, then check the body part you want. In the options, make sure save as morph target is checked (this will save the object file in it's original location, which is what you need for morphs), and weld is unchecked. When modeling, make sure you move change only the points you want morphed, if you move the entire part, even slightly, you get bad results. Also be careful not to delete or add points, or do anyting that might change the order of the vertices. Regards Lemurtek
Will Z-Brush allow deletion of groups? If so, import the whole geometry from Geometries and isolate what you want in Z-Brush. If you cannot, get a copy of Compose and isolate groups with it. You probably have a trans effect there, done by Poser, before you exported the group even. I know that I am the only one who hates Poser export to produce root stock for morphs, but I do. I do not clutter my Geometries folder with morph obj. Poser 'looks' in My Documents (I am insulted by that name, as well as MY computer - tacky, saccharin) I have a ton mole of morph folders there.
Thanks but I solved my problem already, I wasn't getting the pop-up window that allows me to select "Save as Morph Target" so I installed Poser Pro and I got it working, another thing I messed up was, I smoothed the mesh, so it made too many Vertices!Instead of smoothing I altered it as is and it worked fine.
