Hi all, maybe you can help me with this... Since I can't do the Poser file import with the Mac version of Vue (see one of my previous postings), I'm going to import the files in OBJ format and do a re-mapping. Believe it or not; I don't have any problems with the BUM-files liek some of you had. But everytime I try to open a map file which is in JPEG format I get the error message "Unable to read ..../xyz.jpg". Any ideas what's going on? I'm running Vue 4.05 beta1. Could this cause the problem? Phil

Hmmmm... I don't know, Phil. Have you tried converting it to another format and then trying it?

not being able to open JPEG images in VUE is really strange...
Did you try to convert the images to another format (BMP, TIFF) before opening them ? does it work ? Could you open JPEG images in your "regular" MAC version of VUE ?
can be a bug in VUE 4.05beta1... It wouldn't surprise me, this version is really "beta" !

Mike and Eric, guess I'll reinstall Vue without updating to Beta again. Maybe this helps. Gonna keep you updated with the results. Gotta finish the image asap since I have to finish the invitation. I'm still in the learning process, but I hope to improve my knowledge quite fast. Without this great community it wouldn't be as easy as it is right now. Many thanks for all the great hints and help. You guys are really special! PhilMikeJ posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 4:48 AM
Thanks Phil! We try. Can't always succeed, but we try anyway. I don't like to do the "contact support" thing if I have a clue what might be wrong, but the whole Mac thing is new to us, as you already know. did you try converting to TIFF, for example? How about .bmp? Obviously, .jpg and .gif can work with Mac, but what about .bmp? How about .pict? I dunno, it's all a mystery to me. But thanks for the kind words. :)

Mike, since I'm still at work I couldn't test the other file formats. My Mac should handle all the mentioned file formats. You know, Macs are the ideal machines for all grafic and art related purposes. I love these computers. You should give them a try. But I gotta warn you: "Once you go Mac, you never go back." :)))

BMP is a PC format, comparable in some ways to PICT, a Mac format. These days, most programs on both sides can read both of those formats. But I kind of have a doubt that the Mac Vue is prepared to read PICT. Phil, can you open the JPGs in any other program? Oh wait, you must be able to...being on the web, your browser is viewing JPGs constantly. Okay, nevermind that question. :)
