I'd like to update a downloadable item I put a couple weeks back with a new morph. However, I don't want to have to upload the entire cr2. Is there a way to do this using a pz2 file or some other easier method that any new users can easily use without resorting to morph manager application. thanks in advance.

There are some threads about this in the Poser forum. Post #10 in the discussion at the link might get you started. You can also try to search for 'morph carrrier', 'delta injection' and 'mor donor'.

You could simply supply the morph target .obj with instructions so that users can add it themselves. It isn't much more complicated than selecting the prop, going to Object Properties, and clicking the Add Morph Target button.

Yes, you are right about including the obj file, but I thought it'd be great if it is a simple one click update. I've read post above, as far as I understand there's need to be a idle morph dial or I must replace an existing one to apply a new morph. Not really something I was looking for.

It is not so difficult as all that. Once you have a MORdonor pose file, all a user has to do is, select the group(s) where the morph(s) is(are) to go, go to Objects, Spawn a new morph target (what it is, if anything machs nicht). Name this new morph the precise name you tell them to name it (the name your MORdonor targetGeom is). Then click the pose and your supplied morph is in the CR2. No morphs sacrificed. I just clecked - Spawn is allowed even if no morph dials are set, so a zero delta is possible. I don't think spawn is allowed if a group has no morphs present (V1 ForeArm on out, foot/toe will not allow this)

Whoa, wait mr. Jaager. let me try to comprehend you fully. In a sample scenario, so I shoud create a MORDdonor file which comes in a form of pz2 format. Then I tell the user to manually apply the new morph by first spawning a morph named after the new morph.

Yes. On a figure, in the cr2, the only part of a morph that is fixed is the name (targetGeom ___). Everything else is open to substitution. So for a pose file -no matter what it does - to affect a morph, the targetGeom ___ must match - pose file : cr2. If you are doing MORdonor, what the host targetGeom is before the pose file is applied does not matter. Nothing at all as far as deltas go, makes for the smallest file. It just hit me a few days ago that I could use Spawn, to generate a host morph for a figure on the fly. The only limitation is that there must be at least one morph in a group for Spawn to function.

But is this something a newbie can easily understand. I would like it to be as easy as pie for every one to apply. There's really no way to inject whole new extra morph dial, is there?

Jaager posted Sun, 03 February 2002 at 4:15 PM

Not in one step, no. Two steps, yes. I was leery of Spawn at first. The name, I focused on salmon and west coast rivers. But it is really just a combine function and it combines the hidden values from FBM/PBM masters, as well as the actual dial values. It is very handy. It makes a new morph channel, gives you one chance the do the targetGeom and then puts the new dial at the top of the list. You just select the group, go to the menu and click the command. To keep the morph, you must save the cr2, but you must do this when applying an outside morph too. I think it is much easier and more fool proof than doing the furcapta Export as Morph target and then reapplying the outside morph, but what do I know?

You know a whole lot more than 99% of the people here, mr. Jaager. And that one percent is yourself. I really appreciate your help and incredible insights.

There are what? 75,000 members. Lets see, 1% of 75,000 is 750. I don't think I will do much bragging. I don't usually push the limits of something unless I am interested in it. I like Poser. It is just a matter of not being afraid of experimenting. Any crash you get is virtual, so the blood is virtual, too. If I can help blaze a new trail, or point you in a helpful direction, it is a way of being useful.
