I have a screensaver already made and ready to go. It contains 250 fractal images. Only one problem....pricing. I want to sell it somewhere in the 25$ - 50$ area just for sheer time in creating this monster. This is 1-2 cents per image. Each image took at the very least 15 minutes and maximun 4 hours. Question is....how much is one willing to pay at most for something like this? I would like as many answers to this as possible so I can see all kinds of different ranges.... sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I am looking for any interest and information....not promoting. I know this forum has a high amount of traffic and people who buy things...

...will it work in Linux? Heh - j/k. Seriously, the only reason I myself use screensavers is for times when I'm not in front of the machine, so a blank one pretty much does it for me. /P

To be completely honest, I stopped using screensavers with the advent of Energy Star. My monitor doesn't stay on all day.. when I leave my computer, power saving mode kicks in. The last time I used screensavers was when I was screwing around with a feature in Linux that let's you use screensavers on the desktop. ;) You might be better off doing wallpapers. People love wallpaper. I have been giving away freebie wallpaper for years, and I continue to get comments on even my oldest pieces. My MOST popular wallpaper is a fractal piece I did in KPT.

I even removed the sceensavers that came with windows. Sorry, KiDacE, I do believe the popularity of screensavers has waned considerably since the days of "After Dark".

There are so many freeware screensaver collections available in any imaginable category, I doubt many are going to pay for one. If they do, I think the price range you suggest is simply too high. Maybe $9.95 max. Sounds too little for your hard work, I know, but you have to consider the market. Now a good Poser texture on the other hand...

I do use a screensaver, but $50 is a bit high in my opinion. I have to get up and leave my computer a lot during the day and it helps to just let the screensaver go, plus if I need some thinking time, I can get lost in my screensaver while I mull things over. I use Snoqualmie (paid $10 for it 2 years ago and still use it). Hope this helps.

I was kind of afraid of that. I don't use a screensaver either....maybe limited prints....each print with the screensaver. Say a max of 20 prints of each image or less? Have a gallery to let you choose which to buy?
