Hi, it's me again...still hanging on this transmap problem (see previous post by myself). As soon as I combine an ordinary map with a transmap (e.g. for texturing hair or clothing) Vue hangs. Actually it doesn't crash. It's just hanging an d after a certain period which is something like 20 minutes. It starts working again. But as soon as I try to do some changes within the transparency menu it hangs again. This is really annoying, because I can't work with Vue the way I should. Looks like I have to switch back to Bryce until this is fixed within one of the next updates :( Don't get wrong, but I have to finish my wedding invitation project... Do you guys have similar problems with the PC version of Vue? Phil

I've never had that happen. Did you try to save the altered trans map as a Vue .mat file and then apply it like that? I wish I knew what to tell you, but I don't. This is one of those cases where I would strongly urge you to write to E-on, and that's all I can think of to suggest. Sorry this is being such a pain for you. :(

Well if it's for a wedding, you're allowed to switch to Bryce... but next time... beware !!!
anyway, On my PC version VUE hangs only when I'm editing function.
Hope that Mac users can help you...
Eric

Eric, seems like you've got the same problem on the PC. Vue hangs as soon as I try to edit the settings of the Transmap. So it might not an Mac versioen problem only. Mike, don't be sad that you can't help always. I fear I 'll have lots more questions, so you might help me again next time. ;o) Phil

I don't have any hanging problems in the material editor (PC) for either function or variables. But one quirk I've run into that might relate to this, is that if you are loading a very large image (for the Color, Bump, Transparency, etc.) the image will take a very long time to load up and meanwhile, Vue appears to hang. Once loaded, however, things usually go okay after that. So I'd suggest checking the amount of bytes of your alpha map image. If it's half a meg or larger, that is probably what's causing the hang. And too, if it's that huge, you should be able to remove a ton of bytes by converting it to GIF and reducing the colors to 2 (black and white). That's all a transparency map needs, most usually. Hope this helps! :)
