Dug this old camera out of the basement today....it used to be my mothers and she gave it to me when I was 8 years old...that was back in 1976. I have no idea how old it actually is, so I'm posting some pics of it and maybe someone here has seen this kind of camera before. I'm sure it's not worth a thing monetarily, but I've been thinking about maybe trying to use it again, just for fun. Looks like an old point and shoot, inside where the film goes it says USE 620 FILM, Takes 12- 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 pictures. Do they even make 620 film anymore? Could I substitute 120? On the left side of the camera there are 2 holes, I'm assuming this is for flash? On the front it says it was made by Herbert-George Co., Chicago 6, Ill.

Here's the side, with those holes that I guess are for a flash unit?

And here's the photographer at age 8, 1976.....to young to be a hippie! I'm from the Madonna generation....hehe! These are really bad....came from the camera above...I think my sister who was 5 at the time took this one of me.

Are you saying those pictures came from that camera after in storage for 25 years?

Michelle A. posted Wed, 06 February 2002 at 2:42 PM

No, no, they were developed and have been sitting in an album for over 25 years....but I don't know what kind of film my mother put in the camera back in 1976, when I took these photos. Can't ask my Mom...she doesn't remember what she had for breakfast this morning.

It's circa 1961-1964 (I think the black model is from '64, and the gray one from '61). My mother found one like that a few years ago from ye olde cedar chest but never got it to work. Here's a link about how to use 120 film in it. - darkpen

No prob. I just called my mom, she says those holes are for one of those tall column-mounted-like flash (you'd screw in the leads). I hope it works for you! - darkpen

Thanks for sharing your "almost antique" Michelle! My brother has a fetish for "old" cameras, he has at least 50 he's trawled from various sources in his study...I think he might have one of these, I'll check next time I visit him. I hope you can get it to work!
