Why is Instant Messaging not? ... Instant, that is!
I [sort of] don't like to get a message on IM, and here is why.
It takes 50-60 SECONDS! to get a screen refresh EVERY TIME that I:
o ... invoke IM
o ... reply to an IM
o ... delete an IM
o ... or anything else associated with IM
[[[ geep, i keeps tellin' ya, you needs to replace that 300 baud modem! ]]]
Yeah, but it's still workin', ... well, sort of. ;=]
Seriously though ...
Is it possible that the amount of data
[i.e., the list of "Who's currently logged in" that is sent (and received)
with each screen update is making the "round trip" e.x.t.r.e.m.e.l.y ... s.l.o.w?
A suggestion or recommendation to those of you who are of the software programming persuasion genre in the "IM department" ...
Would it be possible to just have a "button" that would say
*** [you guessed it] ***
"Who's currently logged in" that could be used if the member needed that information?
Wouldn't this cut way down on the amount of downline data traffic for IM?
I never need the "Who's currently ..." info when I am just "replying" to an IM.
Please don't get me wrong. IM is a great feature here at R'osity. Would it be possible to make it better?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Even if nothing can be done, I feel better blowing off some steam ....
pppfffffffssssttttt!!!!!!
Ahh! That feels better.
