Hi, i still have problem with bump maps from image in Vue. In this example, i took a Victoria model and i added some red circle in texture map (to check position) and some white circle in the bump map (in .jpg, as the .bum import is still bad). A part of both maps can be seen in the right side of the pic. Now if you look at the result, there are some very dark areas resulting from the bump map on the left side of each circle... I don't know what is creating that. I tried to disable all shadow options with no change, so i guess it isn't a bad shadow problem. It really seem to be a problem with bump maps :( Am i doing something wrong or choosing some wrong parameters to obtain such a result?

That is strange. I can't say I've seen this happen before, but it appears to be offsetting. I'm gonna have to run some tests to see what's going on. Vue 4.05?

It is in Vue 4.05 but i had the exact same problem in 4.03...

heyas; well, bumps dont create real shadows, they create fake shadows. seeing as they are not real protrusions from the surface. try turning down the bump channel's gain, and see if the 'dark area' (shadows) become shorter. if so, then that's it. although i cant explain that dark patch on the ground, there. also remember to check the nudity checkerthingy when you have an unclothed figure... even if she has dots on, her, erm, pertinent parts.... (well they still look nekkid!) ;)

I'm baffld. I have not been able to reproduce this, no matter what I've tried, in Vue 4.05 as well as 4.0 and 4.03. All I can say now is either try bloodsong's suggestion, and if that doesn't work, send the .vue scene file, and a link to this thread to E-on support. Very strange indeed.

Mmm here is a shot of the original result with normal maps... one can still see these strange artefacts :/ (around areolas (sp.) mainly, this is where the bump has the most change) Also, i made tries with lightning from top, and either sides, with gain values of 0.4, 0.04 and 0.01 and the artefacts appear in every case... 0.01 (or around 0.007) seems to be good settings for bump size in this case... Help :P
