Trefoil Our reason to be... This is just a common set-up scene for high-end rendering programs to make their own abilities look as good as possible on their corporate websites. Just thought I would give it a whirl on my $100.00 Bryce 4. With Bryce 5 I could have done that d.o.f. inside the render...ah, one day I'll buy it, sometime after the last update has come out... Very nice indeed, a 2000$ render for a 100 bucks, can't beat that price. lol

I've found that d.o.f. in Bryce also tends to blur
the set focal point to. I've only used it on one render ( so far ) but I ended up doing a dof render ( for the blurred background ) then a fine aa render for the focused object, then a mask render to combined the 2 in photoshop. Seemed to work best for me anyways.

Completely great example (your Bluejay)! Yeah, I remember playing with the demo of Bryce 5 and the d.o.f. Might be possible to get that B5 d.o.f. to work exactly the way you want, but at the cost of time-consuming experimentation, and then just maybe. Don't get me wrong, I love B5's d.o.f.'s ability, it just needs a little help, as in the way you did it. In fact, I did the above pic somewhat the same way you did your Blujay. A background render, mask render, and a normal render. Put together in Photoshop, etc, etc. Lends a lot more control over the final product. Thanks everybody. Agent "more rested" Smith

No, one of the many I have downloaded from websites. Where from originally? No idea, it is only called "Tarnished Metal".
