I don't usually comment on this debate, but I'm finally going to put my two cents in: If you follow the line of reasoning that art generated "in" a computer is not art because the computer does the work, then Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana must not be artists because their guitars do the work and they of course don't craft their own instruments. I wonder if my work would gain any credibility with these snobs if they knew I built my own system?

Hey Techyman, I built my own computer also, I call it "Frankie" as in Frankenputer "Frankenstein". Wait, the "art snob" is prolly gonna think it's not an art form cuz I didn't make my own screwdrivers. I had to throw that in, hehe. Happy Rendering :o) JV

I think Van Gogh did sell one of his paintings for about 80 dollars. Can someone lend me an ear?

*Ben - couldn't agree with you more. I've also worked with oils, clay, and chalks. The moment I got my first computer and found out that you could create art on it,*

Me too! I think one of the first programs I had was Pictor. I don't know if anyone remembers that. It makes Windows Paint look like Mirai, or some of that hollywood movie software.

Character Studio, but I keep coming back to Poser, the program of my addiction ;-).

Cool! Also, one thing I like about Poser is that folks like me can afford it, and it's power (with Mike and Vicky of course) can acheive the realism of any high-end software (in terms of still images) - especially in conjunction with other programs.

And I've been trying to make a texture, wanting it to be near the standard that Catharina, and others have made, and I want to say it is a real challenge (especially with the software I have) . . . and if that ain't art, I don't know what is. Here's a picture of one of the textures I've made . . . any tips folks?

My standart are good photos that is number one for textures and good bump map, I know this today more that a time ago, but light and bum maps make wonder more that all BEST textures, poser4 don't include all what a professional rendering need to have and that is why I use reflection and other things in my textures to help the renders to loking more realistic, if we get Poser5 I hope this all features will include and we can create a new art using our old textures and do all again. I can't wait any more...

AH the features are not what I am looking for, he said not the news what I wish to know, it is nothing to make for better rendering, we need the true features like true reflection , shin and other standard features to get the BEST resultat, what I have from morphs? nothing I can do that self in my 3d software's, I need fast rendering with natural effect, poser4 is very fast in rendering and I love this. If I do rendering in other software's it will not the same, I do work for Poser and for members that use poser, I can do models in 3ds max or other software's but the people will poser stuff, here are the limit to go more, I am on the end, nothing more can do with my textures, new characters? but not better effect , this is only what I think self, maybe somebody have better ideas for the future. you just can't get better with Poser4 without help of other software's here is the end.
