Late afternoon, low sun. The golder evening sun was dappling through the grass - but for this exposure I waited to make the picture until the memorials were in the shadow of a passing semi-trailer. "..and the place thereof shall know it no more." Joe

Where's the caption? It was supposed to say: "Fuji Super HQ 200 print film; Rokkor MC 58mm 1:1.4; hand held, Exposure not recorded."

Wow, that's a weird....but special kind of photo! Well, a weird kind of place I mean :) Nothing wrong with the photo, ofcourse =) I'm still looking at it and I'm still not sure if this is something someone dumped along the road, or if it's a cemetary nobody's been to for some time. Really interesting!

Around here it's somtimes a custom to put a 'roadside Memorial at the site where someone died in a car crash. They usually get forgotten. Joe

That is a moving image Joe, we see so many boquets of flowers and similar memorial signs around where I live, there are so many winding roads, and too many young drivers who think they are immortal...sad.

Thanks, Alpha. Sad is right, Punky. In this case it was a striaght piece of four lane plus median freeway. I hear it was an SUV roll-over. The driver tried to avoid hitting a deer. Joe

A very meaningful image Joe, the use of colour & emphasis on the textural grass gives it real depth.

Oh, it's a memorial.....yeah, they do it here too. But most of the time not really with a cross. (somethings a memorial stone, you know with an inscription). I have to say, it gives it a whole new perspective. Now I'm thinking about what has happend. Two people, maybe girl/boyfriend together, or someone's children....sad stuff. Love the photo even more :)

Ironically, I've got a wierd connection here - My mate Mike is married to a girl called Nicola, and he has had the misfortune to kill a drunk who stepped out from a country path into the road late one night.... Wierd how things turn up interconnections with other peoples lives..... And yes, sad, but nicely done. (",)
