man Bryce exporting is a pain in the @@@%^%#^! Its as if they dont want you to export into any other format, because then you might use another app! That is soooooo lame-get with it! Im only even bothering with this cause i have it at work and have some freebies i want to use in another USEFUL program! Anyway ,how come that certain pieces of any particular mesh wont let me do that stupid edit mesh Control-D thing!!! That "E" doesnt come up all the time(and yes it IS mesh that is doing this, not lights or the such)so how do i export this in this piece of crap if that happens-please help!

If it uses any of the Bryce primitives you can't export it.

All imported meshes should have the E icon for editing. But one thing I have learned, some 3D apps have many different option for how to export the group. They can be imported into Bryce fine, but try and export them out of Bryce and crash... Example... in Poser you can not select individual meshes on the head, ie... lips, teeth, eyebrows..ect.., but they do have there own material selection in Poser. When they are exported out of Poser with all the options enabled, then imported into Bryce, low and behold they are separate meshes. But Try and export any part of that Poser out of Bryce it will crash every time.

It's all with the way whatever 3D app exports the CV point's info, it gets real confusing for sure!!! But the best way is to use UV mapper to set exact coordinates for those points, not just for texture mapping but but for meshes as well, it seems to align their info correctly. Stephen can you help me out on this a little? And please correct me if I'm I'm wrong on any points, I don't want to tell someone something that isn't correct for sure!! Thanks.

Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!

Leadnut: If it doesn't have the little "E" then it is not an "exportable" mesh. It may have some exportable elements, but it may also contain metaballs or boolean objects as well, in which case it won't export. if you want a good import/export and modeling app you might look into AMAPI3D, it has probably the largest amount of export options. Stephen Ray; I've NEVER had a crash of the type you described. I import Poser OBJ files and export parts of them all the time without crashing my G4. In fact I did it again (when I saw what you had written) just to be sure. No crashes, no problems. Your crashes might be caused by system conflicts or by a corrupted installation of Bryce clay; I don't think anyone has mentioned UVMapper or CV points in this thread, but you could be working on a level that is unknown to me. Rock on dude! ;-)

Allycat, How do you export out of Poser? I export as obj with these options and it crashes every time ( these options generate a mesh for each body part ) Include body part names in polygon group Use exact internal names except spaces weld body parts. I have tried it on 3 different PC with 3 different OS Using B4 and B5, so I don't think it's anything corrupt with the PC or instillation, maybe it's a PC thing, and not a Mac

These are the boxes I check; 1) Include body part names in polygon groups 2) Include exact internal names except spaces 3) Include figure names in polygon groups 5) Weld body part seams These I leave unchecked: 4) Include existing groups in polygon groups 6) As Morph Target (no world transformations) I suppose it could be a PC thing, but I've never heard of anyone with a PC having a similar problem. My OBJ's import into Bryce4 and 5 with no problems, I can even export certain parts as OBJ's, or any other format, and reimport them without crashing. I also set my memory allocation for Bryce5 at around 600MB because I do very large scenes.

Alleycat I tried exporting with those option with no joy, but I tried it with just: 3)Include figure names in polygon groups 5) Weld body parts And bingo I could export it out of Bryce. With these options, in Bryce the figure meshes are the same as poser material parts ie.. skin, lips. eyebrows ect.. But if I import the same file into Amorphium Pro each body part is it's own mesh, with the head parts merged into 1 mesh. If I export it out of Bryce then into Amorphium Pro they are the same as they were in Bryce. ie.. skin, lips. eyebrows ect.. Basically I want to use poser figures in Pro, but it is just to tedious trying to paint lips and eyebrows ect.. when their part of the head mesh. ( Amorphium Pro doesn't support UV mapping so the texture maps don't work with it.) Anyway looks like It's the solution to my dilemma Thanks.
