After reading several tutorials and about 200 WEST LIGHT i managed my first conforming cloth somehow. Its moving and bending with the parent figure but its not placed at the right place( a little bit aside, not much , but its a tight thing i try to make, something like a long glove) My problem is : i can only place the originpoints by dragging with the mouse, trying to add them manually in the jointeditor, resets them to zero and the new figure is lying somewhere in the corner. What do i wrong??

This rings a small bell. Have you got my Mike Gloves? (freestuff) See what I did there. Look for IK chains, (not used) and how much of the arm is included.

I know this may not be the "proper" way but have you tried moving the source .obj? I had the same problem with a robe that I made. It was to far forward, so I imported the .obj and moved it forward .001, saved it, deleted the .rsr. then checked the effect. I had to repeat this 3 times but now it's i the right place. now if I can just fix the sleeves ::sigh::

Shadow : i will try it .I gave it a new try about a hour ago and it turned out much better. But i cant change the origin numbers manually in the jointeditor :-((

one way to help with the placement is to import the .obj file of the figure you want your new item to conform to then mposrt the item's .obj move the .obj to the the target .obj until it's just right. Here's how the robe fits on vicki, notice that it looks like she really wearing it.

Thats the thing i`m working on( the armcover) but now i got it,its conforming and bends very well. The problem was to set the originpoint at the right place by dragging with the mouse.

Let me mention, once again, the mysterious hidden offset dials that you can bring up. With the Joint Editor open, and the part picked, and the Joint Editor on "Centers" pull down from the top menu Ojject, Properties, and watch as more dials appears after you close the box. Dials that you've never seen before! Nobody knows what they do, but try 'em, you can use them for fine adjustments, just don't go too far! This is how I got the Nite-Life high-heels on Vickie's flat feet, truely not a trivial task! Most of my stuff, though, I fit to a copy of the figure in Max.

Oh, and let me add these dials work differently than just changing the numbers in the Joint Editor or moving the centers in the display. Let me also say I don't understand them, I just have used them!
