I am new to the program. I am trying to make a beach type scene. How do i split apart water and land? I only seem to be able to make water or land. For the life of me, I cant seperate the 2 of them. How could i also make dune type shapes for the beach? Thanks in advance

You can move you water up or down and tilt it, try that, get the ground, then add water plane, then tip the water plane slightly. Sharen You are going to have to touch up the edges so it doesn't look so straight.

I think that you only have a ground plane in your scene... which automatically spreads all the way to the horizon and you're changing the material to be land or water? You need to make this plane watery for the ocean and create a terrain for the land. Click on the mountain shape in the "Create" palette to create one. Now editing this by pressing the E will open up the terrain editor where you can fiddle about to make dunes or whatever you need. You will need to resize it for your scene... use the edit menu for this. If you have any other probs please post them 'cos we love newbies! May I thoroughly recommed the various tutorials on this site and around the web. Good luck:)

A woman who goes by the name Calyxa has done some terrific beach scenes. This page tells how she did one of them.
