I see $400 at Publishing Perfection for the Carrara package. Is that about normal in U.S. funds? Ive done a seach and am not coming up with too many online stores that look to be carrying it. In the newsgroups, a number of people have issues with Publishing Perfection but mostly due to returns of hardware. Any comments?

I agree. Carrara 2 will probably be out soon. If you can wait . . I'd download the demo of CS 1.1 and play around until the new version comes out, then buy that. -Otis

According to MacQuarium, Eovia says Carrara will ship in June

What is "MacQuarium", and did they say what the prices (full or upgrade) would be? -Otis

do you have raydream or infini-d? because if you do, you can upgrade from those packages for around $150. (eovia website) this gets you carrara studio now. then when version 2 comes along, you will probably be able to upgrade for about the same price. which totals about $300. which is less than buying version 1 from the stores full price. i've heard there will be no raydream/infini-d upgrade offers for carrara 2. i'm not sure what the price of carrara 2 will be, but i think (hope) it will stay the same. -scott

fear not, got 3dmax at work but the price for a personal copy makes me cough up blood. looking at carrara for local usage. Just bought xfrog actually and for the strangely organic shapes its been a good buy. Who am i kidding, cant wait any longer, ordered carrara 2 days ago at its list price. will likely upgrade a few months after the new version has proven stable.

Will amapi still be included in version 2 you think?

The more I think about it, the more I'll upgrade from Raydream to Carrara now, then snag the upgrade price come Fall when Carrara2 comes out... the way I figure it, I'll have RDS 4, Carrara, and Carrara2 for the price of a single copy of Carrara 2 once it comes out (which will mean two licensed copies - one for my laptop, the other for my desktop :) /P
