I have done a series of quite high res tex maps, with individual bumps for Vicky's cat suit, to turn it into a cowboy shirt. I need to find some money to support my poser habit. I have never sold anything before. Should I go for it, help please.If I do what price should I put on the package. I know this should probably be in the new forum, but was just curious as to what you all here think.

chohole, I consider you a friend. This is a difficult decision for many Poser artists these days. Giving can be so rewarding and fulfilling. Unfortunately, the mere act of giving is expensive these days. Artists are often getting hit with bandwidth charges, etc. And yes, even an artist needs to eat, pay the bills, or support her own habit! I would dearly love to have those shirts, and yes I love to get something for nothing. However, I've become very aware of all the financial issues involved, in recent months. I suggest you sell the shirts in the Marketplace. You can look over the Marketplace and determine the price. It seems most stuff is under $20, and the items in that price range or higher need to show something "more" that is worth the price. I will support you, emotionally, regardless of your decision. Ron

I am only a buyer and I too like free stuff but although I don't make these things I can only imagine the work and time that goes into these projects. Like Ron says, browse the Market Place and do some pricing. Selling your hard work is not a bad thing. I would go for it.

Everybody has an inner price threshold, below which counts mentally as "almost free"; an item below this price is worth risking an impulse purchase. Above that line, caution reigns, and only "justifiable" items will be bought. If you look at number of downloads as well as price, for items similar to yours, you should be able to spot that threshold!

Oh, absolutely! These textures are definitely commercial quality. Beautiful work. As far as price is concerned, I think you should check other clothing textures in the Marketplace and see what the average going rate is on most of them and then decide on something in that range. Since you have more than one texture in the set, that's a definite draw for customers. Melanie

You have already 'given away' may fine things, I say: market some, make it worth your while! Although I am not personally much of a "western wear" person, I do however look more at items in the store from from folks who have given in free stuff then from names I see 'only in the store'. Not because I'm greedy with free stuff but becuse they have 'given' - I have 'taken', I just feel 'more obligated'.

I would definetly try the market place, you did an excellent job on the shirts :)

Personally, I would have a definite commercial use for just those shirts. I think you should sell them, as they look quite nice. And I'm rather picky, even though I have bought tons of stuff. Just my $0.004 (inflation). Larry F

thanks for all your feedback. We are going to use Great Bizarro's idea and put up a free package, followed by one for sale. Now I need to put it all into a package.
