I'm expanding my horizons in Photoshop and playing around more. Any comments or suggestions with this image?

You have some really interesting concepts here WM...

I think I might consider removing the text. To me, it seems to draw to much focus away from your main subject. You may also want to do some brush work on his hair along with some texture and color work on the skin and teeth.

You have a lot of good stuff going with this image, so spending the time to make it just right is IMO really worth it.

I'd go along with what Alpha said, except it seems to me the text appears to belong to the image, sort of like a magazine title on a cover page. If you're designing this for the web, a tighter compression would help. I'm not sure how many bytes this is, but it took a very long time to load for me (dialup here). :)

man, use the burning tool set to mid tones on the white teeth, and u can get some truly DISGUSTING grime and plaque fx out of it. Once did that for a prospoective job for a dentist doing a pamphlet. sent it to some friends saying it was my teeth and they all flipped... umm yeah. the only thing i dont like is the White Mexican PCW thing... prolly just the font

It is indeed a good start to begin with. In line with Slynky, the typography of the 'The' and 'Mexican' could be finetuned as well. If you really must use this type, then try to get the 'he' nearer to the 'T'. I always try to get a natural balance, even if that means letters touching each other. But as you can tell from my choice of words you could look for some different fonts for starters. The 'Mexican' word looks very nice, especially if the alledged Mexican is from Brooklyn (I have a font like that called like that). But it is a matter of taste. I would also darken the borders or wash out the colors at the borders of the image, to draw the focus to the big portrait in the middle. Or maybe blur the background (including the left and right portraits) a bit. Or to desaturaite it.
