As one Newbie to another, JHILL, I unwittingly offended a bunch of people when I innocently (ignorantly) asked for a model to use in a Bryce scene. I was amazed and taken aback to learn that the Poser models (which are the best models, it seems) are under an extremely limiting copyright.....I was informed that I was asking someone to break the law!?! Which, of course, was the absolute opposite of what I thought I was asking, having seen figures in the Free Stuff and actually being willing to pay for a model. You might want to do what I'm doing: I got a copy of Computer Arts magazine for February, used the CD on the front to download Poser 3 (for free!) and printed out the manual. Which I am now crawling through at a snail's pace, but it is learnable.

Jason Voorhees is in Freestuff as is Freddy Krueger. The Shape and some others I wouldn't know though.

Have you tried all the mayor rescours sites? www.3dcafe.com is a big one.

But, yes, if you want to do scenes with people in, you really should buy a copy of Poser. If you are really too hard up to afford Poser 4, get the free copy of Poser 3 with Computer Arts. Poser 4 is well worth the outlay, though.

Have you looked in the MarketPlace for monsters made in Creature Creator? They require having Poser to be posed, but someone might be selling the CC models (perfectly legal, by the way) in poses that would work for you.
