"This may sound stupid but when I traded for Poser (You know... trade in a bunch software for other software???)... I got poser... but no manual... I'm curious on the premade Texture's/models could they be used in a commercial use poster without worry's about copyright infringement so forth?... I've looked in the help thing about copyright issues... but either A. it's not in there or B. I am over looking it... but any wisdom would be 'preciated." LKA

Sounds shady, but to answer your question: those models are royalty-free. If they are distributed in "render form" (as in, pictures of the models), you won't be infringing any copyrights. However, you are not free to distribute the models themselves, in whole or part.

"Thanks for clarifying... But since you so eloquently put it "Sounds shady"... it's perfectly legit... Can I help it if the guy who traded in Poser didn't put in the manual?... Second if what you mean by sounds shady is checking to see what I can do as far as making cash using the pre-supplied models... I do not plan to use them for commercial use at the moment or in the for seeable future... I just like to know my limitations... You see it's a fascinating thing laws... if you know them well enough anybody can go down... So most likely you can now see why I am being careful..." LKA

Sorry about the comment. I believe it's a little more understanding than some members will be. Sometimes I let the mentality of the forums get to me! ;) The comment is directly addressing the fact that you traded for the software. I just know that when I pay over 200 bucks for something, I like to keep the user materials also... but your friend is not you and I'm glad you've got an interest in Poser and have obtained the software! Welcome! As for checking on the models provided, I asked the exact same question. My answer also applies to Michael and Vicki if you decide to upgrade your library in the future. Generally, anything you pay money for you can use commercially, but its always good to read the fine print. Mostly, you'll find creators of free stuff will limit you unless you contact them for permission, which is fair by all means. Here's some links to help you get the most out of the default Poser bunch! http://www.digitalbabes2.com/ - FREE REALISTIC HAIR AND TUTORIAL http://www.morphworld30.com/ - WONDERFUL SITE WITH MORPHS AND THE AMAZING EVE AND AZURA CHARACTERS (ALSO FREE!) http://www.daz3d.com - SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER AND GET A NEW FREE MODEL EVERY WEEK (USUALLY VERY HIGH QUALITY). ALSO A TERRIFIC STORE.

LordAckmar...check the help menu. My Poser 4 has the entire manual in Adobe Acrobat format.

blinks and whacks his computer going through the slow help file "...'preciated... I'm sure I will find it on here eventually.... blasted computer." LKA

No need to whack the computer! I was addressing the missing manual issue without checking the copyright issue. The legal info in the P4 manual (on the last couple of pages in mine) does not directly answer your question. On the copyright question, markdotcom has it right, however. That is, if you make a picture or an animation, you have a copyright in that work. It is also my understanding that you have a license to use the premade models and textures royalty-free to create images, etc., but cannot redistribute copies of the models and textures themselves. If you want the ultimate, official word on it, contact legal@curiouslabs.com (CL are largely the Poser4 programmers who took over the program, along with a German company, when MetaCreations sold it). Unofficially, you can use the search function on this forum, as copyright/copywrite questions are often discussed here.
