Hi there, I just got 6 e-mails from ebot, stating my username and password (which I did not ask for). Did anyone else get these ? I was wondering whether it was just a software glitch or something I should worry about ... Take care, Jon

I got 6 of the emails this morning and I never asked for it to be sent once.
ClintH posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 7:23 AM
I got them as well.. I think Mt. EBot had a bad morning. Seems like a system glitch to me. Clint

Me too. Got 6 all sent at 13:10 GMT. I came here to ask the same question and I see that others are experiencing it as well. I wonder what is going on? Is someone trying to log on as other members? Could Renderosity please investigate who (if it was someone) was putting in these requests or what caused the system to send these e-mails out? Regards STORM

Glad to know I'm not the only one Diana... Thanks for your quick response :) Jon
jonfe posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 7:29 AM
Apparently I type too slow - Diana's response was the only one I saw before my second message :| Thank you all :) Jon

Now guess how many were sent to me... :-)
ozgod posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 8:09 AM
Hmmm. I didn't get any. Maybe someone is trying to get access to some accounts?
MartinC posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 8:11 AM
Exactly 6 times for each? Zaphod Beeblebrox would say: 1000 points off for stupidity, but 6 points for cool style... :-)

Same here. What's up? Have fun Dave
Styxx posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 8:26 AM
I got 6 and my wife got 6 also, and neither of us requested it either... too wierd, and disturbing too.
chrisjol posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 8:43 AM
I also got 6, along with the request to "come back soon". And I thought you were all missing me. LOL
X-perimentalman posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 9:04 AM
exactly 6 here too, sounds like Mr Ebot is having a little trouble getting his medication right :}
zardoz posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 9:20 AM
Me too, hmm.. maybe it's indeed a good idea to change my passwort?
Styxx posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 10:15 AM
LOL, the subject of this thread is a clickable link... maybe we should all email the ebot 6 times each :D (just kidding, honest!)
MartinC posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 10:44 AM
Maybe someone sent a chain-mail to ebot and he wants to get all the postcards, confusing "send mails to 6..." with "send 6 mails to..." :-)

Actually, PhilC started a similar thread over the Poser forum; seems like many users are on the same boat here :| Jonoctober posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 10:52 AM
I got six too! And immediately thought someone had my e-mail password and was trying to get my renderosity password too! I'm glad you guys posted the messages before I got here, else I'd still be paranoid.
dragongirl posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 11:00 AM
I'm still wondering if this is a hack attempt. Since EVERYone did NOT get those ebots. (yes - I just got my 6)
Thorgrim posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 11:03 AM
I got six this morning as well, I just came here to ask about it.

Oh, damn, now you got me wondering again!
pendarian posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 11:12 AM
Well I just got my six also and wondered 'what the heck'. So here I am and found lots of others too. There is some comfort in that. Maybe a hacking attempt to gain cc info, which is silly since they don't keep it around, or perhaps break into our store purchases for downloads? Or maybe it's just a snafu... The mind boggles..

What's wrong about being members and receive newsletters and automated generated e-mails ? It's generally what happens ! And I don't read them generally. So, where is the problem with that ? Good Evening. Alfie.

I got 6 requests as well... I wonder if someone may be using a program, not to get passwords or e-mail, but to bog down the site by requesting that information. Allow me to explain, I was told the same thing was happening briefly on Renderotica, so I looked at the server logs and sure enough, someone from Russia was running a script program that would ping the link for that area 1,000's of times. This didn't mean that he/she would get that information, but actually create a server overload by having the E-Bot doing multipule tasks. Fortunately, Renderotica's E-Bot doesn't work yet, so his attempts didn't yeild much success (except for slowing it down some, but not as much if our E-Bot did work) and we banned his IP Address to keep it from occuring again. I think this is what may've been happening here as well. Something that you might want to check, Clint. Jack

I didn't get any, but one of my friends (who hasn't logged on in a week) got 6 of them.
Lucy_Fur posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 3:42 PM
I got the standard 6 for one of my accounts - TheDreamWeaver, but got none for Lucy_Fur. I use different e-mails accounts for my 2 usernames. TheDreamWeaver goes thru my local isp e-mail & Lucy_Fur goes thru a freebie web-based email, Angelfire. Might there be a connection w/that?
This is indeed very disturbing - even for an e-bot prob - I hope once the situation has been resolved or any info at all is available that they post it on the main page.
WyldeSnake posted Fri, 15 March 2002 at 10:41 AM
I didn't get anything...but also, I didn't get any emails at all from Ebot, even though I saw 5 comments appear on my pictures...weirdness in a botttle.
