Just wanted to let you know. "Read New Messages" and "Mark All Read" are not working at all for me. Don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but it's a bit annoying when you reply to a thread and then hit the "read new messages" and your reply doesn't show up. Kate

Kate - Make sure your system date and time are set properly. Working fine for me today. Clint

Thanks Clint, I'll give that a shot. Now I gotta figure out why my computer thinks it's still yesterday.

Only the server clock is used to track "last read time" in the forums. The user's machine clock won't matter in this case.

You're right, Russ. It didn't work. I still can't get the "read new" and "mark all" to work unless I leave the site and then come back. I suspect this might be tied in with the ebot thing from this morning somehow.

Just heard in chat that there was a bunch of hackers in there last night some time. Don't know how true it is since I wasn't there, but if it IS true, that could be the source of the problems today, if they were trying to mess with the site.

P.S. Still can't get the read new and mark all to work. I have to shut down my browser and come back to see new messages at all.

These functions are working for me on Communicator 4.79. What browser are you using?

KateTheShrew posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 3:17 PM

Netscape 4.76 The problem started this morning. Also when I get booted out of chat I have to close my browser and come back otherwise I get caught in a "connected" "lost connection" loop. I swear, I think this place is having a nervous breakdown g Kate P.S. I was asleep in bed when the login ebot mails were sent to me.

Ok, here are a couple of before and after pics. #1 is a screenshot of what I get when I hit the "Post Reply" button - exactly what I *should* get. #2 is what I get after I hit the "Read new messages" link at the top from the screen in image #1 Screwy, ain't it?

See what I mean?

Maybe you will find this odd but try this, Clean up your temporary internet files. Sometime those file can wreck havoc on page that you go often. Cleaning this folder will give Netscape to really get a new fresh page from Renderosity web site. I don't remember exactly where but you have the option for this. DenisG

Have you changed your cache settings? The only thing I can think of is that the browser is loading old copies of the pages.

KateTheShrew posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 3:40 PM

I'll fool around with it and see what happens. I emptied the cache last night, the way I do every night before I shut down the computer. I'll try scan disk next since that's the only thing I can think to do now.

KateTheShrew posted Thu, 14 March 2002 at 3:42 PM

DOH! Somehow the "never" box got checked on my "compare to cache" settings. Thanks Jeff for suggesting I look there. Now I just gotta figure out how the heck that happened g
