Hi all
I know im in an extreme minority here
being an animator.
( along with poser users "LittleDragon" and "Saxon")

I used to belong to Rick Mays "CG Character" list two years ago. but it shut down long ago
it was a great list because it dealt with
character animation specific techniques across the majority of platforms/and applications
you would post a link to your work and the list members would all critque your animation

the animation forum here is a ghost town!!
so any posts i make there go largely ignored

the lightwave forum here may as well be the "newtek
modeling and surfacing consortium" with the notable exception of user:"Clouded in mystery" who is apparently building character rigs for animation with Project messiah.

and lightwave is a major character animation package
in film and TV

the cinema forum is decent for modeling info but
user "steveshanks" cinema user the only one doing any character animation work.
does any one know of a GOOD web hangout for character animator /film effects artist to share ideas and techniques???

IM DYING!! for some discussion.

Know what you mean by being in the minority, Wolf. There aren't that many people using Poser for animation. I do, but rarely if ever post much. Most of the people have little or no interest in animation. I posted a message and a link a couple of weeks ago to a little animation I did in Poser and imported to World Builder that got exactly 3 responses... one was from you. It was the first one I had tried in World Builder and I thought some people might like it. It's the same on the other forums... A couple of times I have never even gotten a response from anyone, but I know people have gone to my site and viewed the animations from my stats and bandwidth used. I have no talent or interest in doing still images, but animating these characters is fun, frustrating, time consuming, frustrating.. oh I already said that, but what a great feeling when you work your butt off on an animation, wait impatiently while it renders then watch it and it's just exactly the way you thought it should look. BTW thanks for the link MadYuri. I checked out the site and I will probably be spending much more time there. Ed

Hi ED,

I know how you feel when spend hours creating an animation and even add some sound in post production and the response here is: "Ooo! where can I get that neat outfit for my still work!!"

whats really frustrating is that posers character animation tools are very powerful and underrated!!
and the wealth of very realistic human characters
available for poser make it a very attractive choice for character animation work.
Curious Labs has done a TERRIBLE job promoting Poser as a character animation tool outside of posers
still render user base
This is why the "Avatar Lab" has been a FLOP in my opinion
and the new Shockwave 3D exporter will be a miss also, because the professional animators ,who would
likely use these formats for high end web development, dont know any thing about posers character animation abilities.
and now i hear Anthony Hernandez and Co. in the poser forum bragging about Poser 5's alleged "dynamic cloth draping system " and " Collision Detection" etc.
well thats GREAT!! for you ,me and the three other animators here,
but for the most part those features will be ignored
by posers existing user base whos main concern will
be backwards compatibility with "posette".

remember the propack "animatable materials"????

And for us Propack owners fortunate enough to
to own Cinema 4DXL its even better for us as we can
take poser charcters into a true raytraced environment and add all of the render effects of a high end 3D
production application.
yet when i go some other on line Cinema or lightwave forum they have never heard of poser
so it just post animation and say this is my latest render in Cinema 4D ,and the comments are always positive about "My " character model.

CL should be promoting poser pro as a low cost pre- visualization tool for movie production and as a powerful stand alone character animation Plugin for
Lightwave 3D, Cinema 4DXL, and 3D studio MAX!!!

but anyway I hope to see you over at the Cg Character forum. :-)
