Two german students, Benjamin Neidhold and Philipp Fischer, developed a motion capturing system which uses normal webcams to find the position of lamps moved in front of a dark background. They are showing the system life on the fair, sending the captured data to 3DMax to move the arms of a figure there. I've seen the demonstration there and it works well.

The system is at the moment able to track up to three lights with three webcams. The system is currently limited to three points, but can be expanded to capture more point. To do that it would be nessecary to use more cameras and to expand the software.

The software was developes as a project, which is now complete. The two students seek someone who can finance the further development of the software, so that it can be marketed. Actually, some people seems to be intrested in this nice piece of software - it's a nice idea to capture movements with hardware priced well below 1000$.

At th moment they haven't decided how this nice story will continue. They have been talking to some companies at the fair, but up to now neither egi.sys nor courious labs showed up, so we will probably not see this feature in Poser 5. But as I said, nothing is decided up to now.

The two guys can be contacted via email with the following email adresses:

benjamin.neidhold@web.de
phillip.fischer@web.de

When I told them about Renderosity the told me they would show up here, so Questions will propably be answered soon.
