I've noticed over the last month or so that I would get an error in IE after clicking on download buttons in Free Stuff which didn't link to another site. The new browser window would open and then an error dialog would appear complaining about the attempt to load the URL: http:...freestuffdownload.ez failing. I'd been bypassing this problem by looking at the freestuff page html source, copying the link for the thumbnail image to another window and working back from there, in the case where there wasn't a link to the contributors' webpage. I finally got sick of this today and after lengthy investigation of browser settings and forum searches for others with similar problems, decided to try something different. I had been in the habit of leaving all my freestuff downloads in a single folder, having noticed that each download is automatically assigned a different sequence number, e.g. freestuffdownload 3.ez. On closer inspection, I discovered that the whole number sequence from 1 to 100 had been allocated. What, I wondered, would happen if I moved all these files to a different folder? Lo, and behold, downloads are now working again!!! I have not discovered exactly what is responsible for allocating unique names to the download files, whether it be IE itself, the Mac Classic OS (9.1) or the Renderosity download scripts, but a little bit of regular housekeeping seems to be necessary to avoid the unexplained and frustrating download failures I'd been suffering. I hope this proves helpful to someone else. Cheers, Geoff

I have found the solution to the MAC IE download problem. Use Mozilla:p
Works like a charm...

Heh, at least you didn't suggest using a PC instead ;-) Anyway, I never like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, even if the plughole is oversized...

LOL. I'd use Netscape before I'd go the way of the PC.
Didn't mention it above, but your tip for IE d/l probs is a gem.

Try iCab - couldn't live without it any more. Full cookies control/protection, full JavaScript control/protection, etc. pp. It's still "public beta", but it works like charm except for CSS (work in progress, but to be done for the final release).DgerzeeBoy posted Sat, 23 March 2002 at 4:18 AM
I will occasionally use iCab, but I find it to be slower than Mozilla. And Mozilla download speeds are awesome...
