Despite reading everything on the subject in the user guide, I have never been able to get Poser 4 to give me the opportunity to creat a smart prop. I have never even seen the dialog box for smart prop. Thanks for your help. K.B.

In order to make your prop a "smart prop", you need to parent it to your character. For example.. a hat should be parented to your figure's head. then go to your props library, click the + sign - and you will get a question if you want to save it as a smart prop. Britt

Yes, as I mentioned, I have done everything according to the users guide in terms of parenting. Even turned off the kinetics for the lower extremity parenting of props. After I parent a prop it does turn with the figure, etc. It seems to be parented to the character's part. I just can't get the smart prop dialog box to appear when I try to save the prop. Thanks.

That's odd. Hmm.. maybe if you write down, step by step in detail what you do, - we can see better what happens? Britt

I found the problem by searching other messages on the same subject in the forum. You don't go into the Select Subset box when saving the prop back to the library, contrary to what would seem logical! Somehow, that disconnects the prop from the parent. Thanks for your help. I've got it now.
