I am doing some photographs of my daughters and wanted to know what you all thought of this one. Mind you I am far from a professional and don't know much about the lighting and all that. I am wanting to print some of the pictures I am doing to send out to family and when we went last weekend to get the girls Easter pictures done I was very disappointed so thought heck why not try to do something at home. This is one that I came up with. Honestly, what do you all think.

I think she has the bluest eyes I've ever seen on a child! Anyways though, if the lil'baby's hand wasn't cut off at the bottom, it'd be a lil better. As for lighting and all that jazz, I think you did a fine job with this leigh. don't be a stranger 'round these parts.

Can one child hold the other? If so that may address the crawling problem and get both children into the same frame at once. Bsteph

I hate to say this (bite's tongue HARD) but I agree with Bsteph... (ouch, that hurt) One of the best pictures we had taken of our two (3 years age gap) was of our eldest holding the youngest, albeit rather tentatively! Made it much easier to get them both positioned right in the shot, too. Nice lighting! Well caught. erm. and this is probably just me, but with the short focal length baby's eyes are brilliantly in focus while your elder (sorry, naff with names and forgotten!) are slightly oustide the dof.... once again, holding/held may solve that problem. I think your lighting is very soft and professional looking, and the image is sharp and clear and should reproduce nicely to send to your family. The kids will be more relaxed at home, and you can force them to do this quite often. The suggestions above are all good, but most important thing is that you like the results. They are pictures that will be treasured forever. Make sure to get some really embarrassing ones! You did not say if you used a film or a digital camera. If it is digital and you take the file into a large camera store they should be able to make prints for you. I do not know your exact situation (some folks are FAR away from a large camera store), so post again with any questions. From the nice quality of this one, hope to see more from you.

I see where the sets of eyes are not focused the same. Could that be because I probably did my focusing on the younger daughter and not of the entire picture? And where would one use as the focal point? Thanks so much for all the help. Leigh

Depth of field is a function of f-stop. Stop down and slower shutter. (Or more light) Also try setting the focus on one and moving forward or back a few inches to hit the ends of the critical range. Bill
