Hi everyone, I have just realized that when I touch up or create an image in my Photoshop (5 LE) it looks fine, but when I look at the image in any other program or on the web, it looks darker. Is there any setting I could change to bring my display in Photoshop closer to how it'll look everywhere else?

Well, I always find that in PS 6, jpegs tend to look a lil'different elsewhere than on photoshop, no matter what the compression levels. Dunno what the prob might be. Also, doesn't photoshop use its own gamma settings? As far as I recall it does. When photoshop is closed, or yer not viewing the image in photoshop, the gamma and colour settings likely follow what you have your video card settings set to. just a thought.

I turn off the color management and it looks the same as what I see on the web. Edit - Color Setting - Color Management Off setting.

Thank you for your answers. Unfortunately my little LE version doesn't have color management options. :( I'm going to check out the regular versions (Photoshop 7 sounds really good). There are many things I can't do with this limited edition anyway. Thanks again! :)

If price becomes an issue with Photoshop 7, I'd recommend Paint Shop Pro. I don't use it myself, but it costs the around the same as LE, and is essentially Photoshop minus a few tools as far as I understand, but a far better program than LE or Elements, and for the price, you really can't go wrong. Ask the guys in the PSP forum for some more info if ya want dude.

Yes, Photoshop 7 is quite pricey. :( I have downloaded the trial version of Photoshop 6 and tried dreamer101's tip of turning off Color Management. It worked like a charm! Thank you! Photoshop has many great capabilities that I'm not sure that PSP has. I have been limping around without these capabilites so far, but now I feel that I would really, really like to have them. So I think I'm going to preorder Photoshop 7 and I guess I'll be a more frequent visitor here in this forum. :) Sue (a dudette ;))
