for those of you who have used bryce and vue, what would you rate as the better value? which has more bang for buck, with consideration on render speed, learning curve, etc. I've used bryce 5, and like it, but vue certainly looks nice too. Thoughts please :)

Best I would say is try the vue demo. I tried them both and bought vue. I found what I was able to do with vue in the demo was much easier and nicer looking then what I could do in the bryce demo. But your milage may vary. :)

WEll, if you've never used bryce, just buy Vue... Definitely more bang for the buck... I started with Bryce, I still love bryce, I'm a software guy, but I could not recommend bryce to somebody not ever having used both programs... Vue is easier, has a lot more vegetation, better skies, and if you've never worked with these programs before, you'll feel a whole lot more comfortable right off the bat...

I have used both and found the end result of Vue to be far superior. I find the Vue tools more intuitive and easier to understand quickly. That being said the problem I had with Vue was getting used to the setting controls for atmosphere, shader scale, etc. Not actually using the controls but learning to finesse them to get the results I wanted. I think this was generated by my latent experience in Bryce. I have been much happier with the import ability and final output since switching to Vue. Go for it.

ive used bryce quite a bit, and was fairly happy with the results, so i think i'll d/l the demo for vue and see how it compares:) thanks for the suggestions.

I used Bryce for a long time before I began using Vue 3.x. Then it was a matter of which one I thought fit the project better. Then Bryce 5 and Vue 4 came out. I bought Vue 4 first and immediately fell in love with it all over again. I have been playing with Bryce 5 from time to time on the machine of a co-worker. I prefer Vue 4 hands down. There are three major advanatges Vue 4 has over Bryce 5, especially if you are interested in frequent importing of Poser files - 1.) Vue 4 imports Poser .pz3 files directly without the need for any third-party software. 2.) Bryce is distributed and "supported" by Corel. Vue is not. 3.) With Bryce, you must deal with Corel. With Vue, you do not. Both are great programs, especially for the price. The three reasons stated above, however, gives the decided edge to Vue in my opinion. Take care and be well. casamerica

I've got both Vue 4 and Bryce 5 and have compared them. It wasn't too hard as I don't really use Bryce. Vue is the best by far. In Bryce I hate moving/rotating objects. The material editor is a complete mess and Vue seems to deliver better results much faster than Bryce.
