Well I'm trying to decide to buy Vue4. Is it worth it and what are the addvantages. Like the rendering machine, how soon will it be obsolette,the learning curve,lights. Any input will help. The price is reasonable, so I'm thinking of ordering in the next day or so. Thanks for your time. Tashar 59

Personally, I think Vue "sells itself" very readily. If you haven't yet tried the demo, head over to www.e-onsoftware.com to download it and give it a test run. Being able to work with it should answer most of your questions regarding the ease of use, the interface, render appearance, etc. And if you've used other 3D programs, check out the links for previous discussions comparing them with Vue. :)

Hi beryld, I love Vue 4... had 3 (I am on a PC by the way, a pretty high end one).... and the only thing that I do have to do is turn the open gl off... (that is the thing that makes solid, shaded objects)...but otherwise, especially if you use poser.. Vue has (in my humble opinion, and knowing I have bryced for YEARS) sooo much to offer... I jumped right in and started... there is plenty of help around here, too... I much prefer the lighting..the default lighting of the various vue atmospheres to Bryce light... I may move the sun around a bit... add a teeny light sometimes but otherwise vue does it all for me... well, I could rave on and on... ;) Lyne Lyne's Creations

O.K. So is it me or is there something up with rendering. Seems the backgrounds look good but the foreground is very jagged. Is there not antialias? Or does anyone use it, I was at the gallery and it seems to be with every pic there. I thought vue had a good render engine. I thought this would go good with poser, but the renders are a bit rough or is it just me. Tashar 59

Vue4 has multiple rendering settings, from "Preview" (the least render) to "Ultra" (the best). It also has 3 levels of antialiasing: "None", "Standard" and "Superior". You can also adjust these settings using a a slidebar, customizing them further. Overall, I think Vue4 is amazing and a dream to use. The only snag is, like was mentioned earlier, is the OpenGL - I've just turned it off cos it kept making it freeze. But its not really needed - it just adds shading to the objects in the view ports. Buy it, you won't regret it. I can't stop using it! JoeBlack

Beryl, try the higher setting for rendering... Ultra is recommended although final in many cases looks fine.. Perhaps you can post some of the problems you seem to be having... Definitely get vue.. For the price, it blows away anything else out there...

The higher the render setting, the smoother the image will be... "final" is the first setting, which I sometimes use when I have a lot of trees, grass.. things I want to be sharper...but you can go to higher settings for a nice smooth look.. in fact some settings give what is sometimes called a "painterly" look... very much like a soft painting! It also depends on how much "haze" is in the vue image.. very easy to turn up or down for softer or sharper looks.. and I think the SKIES in Vue are the most realistic of any program!!! Also depends on how fast your pc is. And high levels of volumteric light and complex texture functions will also slow it down a great deal, but will ultimately add stunning realism to any scene ;) JoeBlack
