I've done a pic called Missing You, it's in my gallery, but i need some help with the lighting. There is a wall light above the bed that is pointing downwards, so can i get a source of light comming from the lamp shades pointing downwards like it's actually comming from the wall light itself. I think u can get that effect in Bryce, but can u in Poser? If so how? If not can anybody give me some tips on some relistic room lighting (not too bright) Thanxs Claire xxx

Goodness me, I did a scene slightly similar just recently! Unfortunately I no longer have the image- it was part of a larger project and I dumped it! Hmm, poser is a little limited in this respect. I am looking at your piece (it's very nice!) and I take it that you want the light to be coming out from the wall-mounted lights? I am far from an expert on lights, but it occurs to me that you could place spotlights in the light props themselves, with high angle end values. Given where the lights are in your scene and the way they are positioned, though, they'll probably just light up the head of the bed. What I might do if I were rendering that scene: Spotlights in the light props, perhaps another on them, just them, to get the effect of the glow from within; will require some careful positioning. You have the woman lit quite strongly from behind her, as if the bedroom door were open to a strongly lit hallway. I might change that: very subtle infinite lights in low tones giving definition to the items in the room, with a soft spot on her from the direction of the wall lights, plus a back light, very soft indeed, to bring out definition. But that's just me! (Oh, I do wish I had that pic; it was awfully economical... blast!) :)

You can certainly set spotlights inside the lamp props and that'll light the wall with no problem. However, you'll need to add a little omni light here and there to support them -- without it, your scene will look unnecessarily high-contrast, given Poser's limited ability with ambient lighting. So place an omni near floor level in front of the bed (our POV). Set it for a deep blue and then turn it way down, to like 40% value. Set another to the right (also at floor level so it comes up to the model), make its colour a medium grey, and again turn the sucker way down. Finally, for a really gentle touch, put a spotlight over the table with the picture. Make it white, but set it for about 20% value, so the light just hits the photo and the top of the table.
