Just tried to load the Poser 4 patch and got this message "....invalid previous version..." refering to the Poser.rsr file. What does it mean and how do I fix it? Any suggestions?

Did you install the previous patches?... From what I understand you need to do a refresh or in other words a reinstall of your original Poser from your CD and then install the newest patch.... Check for more info at Ghost Effects Inc >>link to your right...=) ~Cindy

Sigh, again? I just got started loading everything from the last crash. I just installed slightly over 300 megs of stuff from the free stuff area. Is the patch really worth it?

I don't know about this latest patch... There have been 3 or 4 now... It's still beta so problems are expected... I haven't installed one of them but have downloaded them all... I think a lot of people are gonna wait till it's out of beta and uploaded to Metacreations (final version)... If you check some of the threads you'll see what some of the problems people here have been having, such as the conforming curls not conforming etc... It all depends if you want to participate in the testing stage... =) ~Cindy

Well, I'm just sitting and waiting for all of the folks that know what they are doing patch-wise to figure out the bugs, what needs to be done, etc. I didn't load the first and am waiting to hear a final verdict on the second. Then--I'l install the patch. People have had some problems and since I KNOW what most of my problems are now, I'll wait awhile myself. (I am not an 'early adopter' LOL). Diane B

That's the rub. Except for Poser crashing last week, I haven't ever had any real problems with, once I started to get a handle on it. The big problem for me was going from Poser 2 to Poser 4. I didn't even know that there was a Poser 3 till I bought 4. I think that I will wait. I have to much time invested right now in the sheer number of hours that I have spend re-installing from the last time and I still am not even half way finished. Thanks, for the info

Oh, Butch--as to reinstall--its like pack says. I have had to reinstall several times and it does not lose any of your current libraries or folders (downloads). Diane B

I'm with Diane, I'm waiting for the final version. I've heard all sorts of problems from folks who have installed the current versions. My P4 program works perfectly as is, and I've never had to reinstall it, so I've been afraid to try the patches, fearing problems. I prefer not to use beta programs for that reason. I can wait for the completed one. Melanie

I solved the problem, I think. I just created another Poser folder, and then copied the library files to it. Then I deleted the orginal poser file. I was going to re-load Poser on top of itself, but decided not to. I didn't really know what was wrong it and I didn't want to take a chance on losing everything.

I have installed the version from 1/20 for Mac. I have had lots of problems and crashes. Textures not appearing, until I tried using the same texture for text, bump, and transmap-then deleting the texture from trans, and bump-makes no sense but is typical for a bug!I am going back to Poser 4 release version, till its outta Beta! Oh yes, crash, crash, crash, boom. I am using OS9. Perhaps I should email larry with a bug list...

What happen to me, was that I lost the ability to open any library files. Everything else seem to work, but could not get the library files open. First thing I tried was to copy over the Poser rsr file, which seemed to be the problem, but that didn't work. That's when I just created another Poser file and installed the shobang in it. Then copied the orginal Library files to it. I understand the reasoning behind beta files and programs, but geesh, I think that I will wait for a delta, gamma or even omega in the future
