Is there -any- way at all of exporting a 3ds object out of Bryce 4 so it can be imported into Poser? Is there a plug-in available anywhere? Is there a magic wand that anyone might own that they can waive for me and alter the Bryce code? Or should I just give up hope and find out if mister fork and miss electrical socket can be friends?

If your wanting to export a 3D Mesh(.obj,.3ds,.dxf, etc.) select the object and click the "E" next to the model to Edit/Smooth Mesh. When that small window appears hit CTRL+D or COMMAND+D and Save As window opens, choose the format you want and hit save. from Bryce Forum FAQ
