In case anyone is curious this is where the 1966 Mustang GT is. The body is just about done, lots of detailing to go. Many of the textures will likely be created from pictures from my own cars. Grill Bars and lights, wiper arms, emblems, etc. will all be modeled soon.

Hi, looks very good ,indeed...

Yes, this shot is from Milkshape. The model is not being created in milkshape but Maya 4.0 however. I use milkshape to set materials and UVs as they translate into Poser better. This was just a test export as an OBJ and load into Milkshape. As milkshape has a poly limit I export regularly and import to test how I am going to need to break up the model when it comes time to set materials.

Nice looking model.

I was just curious as to what about the materials and UVs don't translate well from Maya to Poser?
Isn't Maya what Daz uses? I'm only asking because Maya is looking like a real bargain after the recent price drop.It seems strange that there would be compatibility issues with their own file format.

Thanks

Well Maya is in no way "DAZ's own" file format. Poser will not even accept a Maya (.mb) native file so I have to export as an OBJ to import into Poser. Maya is a very robust modeling tool and setting up UVs and materials is certainly possible, just on occasion what I have exported didn't look exactly like what I thought it would look like. If Poser had made a connection to Maya in the same way they have with 3D Studio Max I would be in hog heaven. Milkshape on the other hand is ultra simple and the material settings translate exactly into Poser with no concern of problems. What you see in Milkshape is exactly what you will get in Poser. Even with this the decision is strictly based on ease of use.
