I haven't actually tried it in Poser yet, but it appears to be an undead Roman skeleton warrior (it comes with a shield, spear, and helmet). I think you might need the first Undead Warrior he posted though in order to get the skeleton's texture, since there's isn't one in the Morituri zip file. Hope that's of some help. :) Take care. SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words.

Thanks SnowSultan. Right now his page/download link comes up as untraceable.

which would be appropriate since the phrase means "We who are dead salute you" in latin and was a traditional phrase used by the gladitorae. Useless trivia for the day :) Lyrra

Little_Dragon posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:01 PM

"We who are about to die, salute you!" Harryhausen would be proud. He'd also be frustrated, since sorroman's other downloads are gone from Free Stuff.

Little_Dragon posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:04 PM

Grrr. You beat me to the translation, Lyrra.

Lyrra posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:13 PM

Is it "about to die" or just "dead"? never been sure :) I hang out with some re-enactors called the 'Familias Gladitorae' guess what time period they specilise in :)

Petunia posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:38 PM

how about "we who are dead or dying"? that covers the whole enchalada.

VirtualSite posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:43 PM

"We who are about to die" -- three years of Catholic school Latin can't be wrong. It's a future participle.

Lyrra posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:47 PM

Thanks VS - and my condolences :) All I remember from Latin class is 'Adeste Fidalis' and 'Senix Macdonald' (come all ye faithful and Old Macdonald)

You need a refresher course in Latin if you think the conjugated verb "Salutant" is in the first person plural ;-) But the guy's link doesn't work, so it's a moot point.

Petunia posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 10:57 PM

I don't remember any latin class... maybe because I didn't take it...

VirtualSite posted Wed, 10 April 2002 at 11:08 PM

You need a refresher course in Latin if you think the conjugated verb "Salutant" is in the first person plural ;-) Nope, it's a ... what do they call those things? The -ing things. Arrrggggghhhhhh. The literal translation would be "We, about to die, saluting you." A gerund. That's it.

However, some of us are going to die of curiosity if we don't get our hands on this figure! I tried to download a handful of things earlier this evening and got nothing but 403s and 404s. :( Carolly, major Harryhausen admirer

Gee..sorry kids, but I got it earlier today with no problem. I guess it pays to get on Renderosity every hour on the hour like the crazed Poser addict that I am. Er...anyway, here's what the skeleton guy looks like. As zipped, he's missing textures which the zip file does not include. One of the missing textures is on Sorroman's other upload, another undead warrior, which I also got. But I can't find any other textures that the figure is looking for. And, Carolly, not only am I an admirer of Harryhausen, too, but I actually have a picture of myself with him. Cool beans, huh?

jjsemp posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 1:53 AM

Ugh, that jpeg I uploaded looks really blurry. I must have accidentally saved the image in low-res. Sorry. Here's a better one. --JJsemp, who studied Latin for six years and remembers none of it.

jjsemp posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 1:55 AM

And here's a closer look. Should I be hitting the "nudity" button? I wonder.....

jjsemp posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 2:02 AM

Here's the other "undead warrior" that Sorroman uploaded. Again, there are textures missing in the zip file. Anyway, I hope these pictures satisfy your curiosity. Jjsemp

How long ago did he pose the previous undead (nude! :o])warrior? Impossible to find amongst my gigs of Poser DLs. (Over 1 gig of Poser zips per MONTH) :]FishNose

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

"Morituri Te Salutant," looks like an warrior from undead army from the first lord of the rings movie done many years ago.

TMGraphics posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 10:27 AM

I thought AC/DC coined that phrase "For those about to Rock - We Salute You! Never mind.....wrong phrase..........

jjsemp posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 12:52 PM

"Btw what is in the links file I'd broke the connection when I looked at the file at home" Dave, it leads to a foreign web site that seems to be about music and the arts. Since it was in a foreign language and was filled with tiny text, it was a little too much work for me to figure out. "How long ago did he pose the previous undead (nude! :o])warrior?" Fishnose, I think it was only posted a day or two ago. It should still be in freestuff at the top of the heap. But that link also might now be broken.

Little_Dragon posted Fri, 12 April 2002 at 9:34 PM

For those of us who missed it the first time ... ... and sorroman has a new undead Civil War soldier on the download page, also!
