I live in the north of England and therefore not in the dollar money area. I have never had a credit card. How could I LEGALLY buy Mike or Vicky or their relatives?

I have seen Internet credit cards around. You purchase the card with the amount of money you would like to spend. It's trashed once the amount is used up.

Hi Anthony, we are in Australia and deal regularly with USA suppliers by Mastercard and Visacard. One solution is to apply to a bank for a small limit Master or Visa CC account or arrange for a trusting friend or relative to order for you and reimburse them in cash. There are other methods such as sending money by Western Union (expensive fee 22% applied) or post a bank draft in US currency, the banks love writing them and charging a fat fee. OT but you wouldn't survive long here without plastic cards, our banks/ public phones/ petrol pumps/ utility accounts/ public transport/ libraries/ doctors/ all require some form of plastic card these days, even our bank transactions are all done by "hole in the wall" card machines or wait in a 30 people plus, long queque for teller service. Tommy.

According to the DAZ General FAQ, you can pay with checks or money orders. Link to FAQ You can also purchase the Michael 1 and Victoria 1 CD collections here at the Renderosity Marketplace, and pay with a personal check or money order. For Mike 2 and Vicky 2, however, your only recourse is DAZ.

And a money order to US$ from a UK bank costs almost as much as Wester Union. Like a $25 bank draft cost me 25. Pay Pal doesn't like you in the UK without a credit card, I can't even get on that system with a debit card, for some reason. Your best bet is to investigate one of the systems that Jeff mentions. And BTW Tommy, we British are renowned for queueing, its a national pastime.

Anthony, It should be possible for a person with a credit card here to buy them in your name. This browser/computer doesn't get along with the DAZ secure area (there have been a couple other secure sites that it didn't like either). So I call Reba and she sets up a download link for me via email, and I have 3 days to get the files. You would then have to find a way to repay the friend, but there might be something local to you which would be difficult or expensive to get elsewhere. As long as DAZ knows who the model is for (for upgrades and such), it shouldn't be any more work on their part, and they get a sale that they wouldn't have had otherwise. I like situations where everybody wins. Carolly

Anthony, If the process that hauksdottir suggests is OK with DAZ then I'm willing to buy it for you on my credit card and then get you to send me a cheque or used fivers in a plain brown envelope. All at cost, no commission. Can you do the checking with DAZ first? e-mail me if you're interested. Regards, Maz maz@sandylodge.demon.co.uk

Anthony, have you got a debit card with the Visa Delta symbol on it? If so, you can buy with that. I've used my Lloyd's debit card at DAZ before, as well as my credit card.
Anthony Appleyard posted Sat, 13 April 2002 at 3:50 PM
I have a UK type of debit card but it does not have a Visa Delta symbol on it. How much do Vicky etc cost? What is the current conversion rate that Daz uses from US dollars to UK pounds?
Little_Dragon posted Sat, 13 April 2002 at 6:55 PM
Victoria 2 and Michael 2 both sell for $59.95 US. Stephanie (the new lady on the block) sells for $29.95 US. Those are the bare-naked models, without clothes, hair, or textures, all of which are sold separately, although you can find a growing number of free accessories here and at other sites.
I'm glad to see that a few people haven't been conquered by the almighty EURO yet. You could email the DAZ staff and ask about the exchange rate:
sales@daz3d.com
And this site has a universal currency converter:
XE.com
According to it, the current exchange rate is:
1 pound = 1.445 dollars
1 dollar = 0.692042 pounds

Anthony, don't read too much into the exchange rate, as banks and credit card companies don't give the same as the cash equivalent (they have to skim cash somewhere!) and I think generally my credit card gives around $1.38 to the , I can't remember what the debit card exchange rate was, probably around the same. You get a little less using a card. I assume you have a switch/electron/solo type card, shoot DAZ an email seeing if they can accept it.
