Well, here's the latest installment of my happy little castle. I got the windows in, moved it to the top of a mountain, (or more correctly, lowered the mountain to it...), and played a little with the haze and fog to make it a bit gloomier. I've pretty much decided I don't really need lightning, and since, short of post render work I'm not gonna get a realistic look for it, I'm just gonna leave it out. I think it looks better without it anyway. What do you think? Any other ideas? Thanks for your help, everyone! Rosh

Congratulations, you have turneds that measly little start into something really cool in a matter of a day. With a little guidance (from me) you could make some really cool stuff. When you looked past the castle the fog turns a sort of yellowish color and you should probably fill that with some dark churning water. Use a volumetric slab to fill the space. Let me know when you get that all together although I must say that it looks great as is. If you have the time I would appreciate it if you would look at Ghost Ship and tell me what you think. Great Job Tempest

MUCH better!! The windows look great! Just a suggestion- maybe you would want to see what it looks like with water surrounding the mountains. I have no idea what it will look like, but give it a try. The haze looks better, but I still think the fog is still a little bright. The fog is attracting your attention away from the castle, and I don't think you want that. Maybe a SLIGHT camera tilt upward so that we can see a little more of the sky and less fog behind the mountains and castle. Overall...big improvement. -Adam

I'll see what I can do about the fog and camera angle.. if those are the least of my problems, I think I'm doing great. =) I'll also see about the water surroundings... I'll probably get pt. 4 up tomorrow. =) Thanks again you guys. Rosh

I have an old map from Bryce1 era which I picked up off the www back then. It doesn't work quite as well with B4, but I do believe it still offers insight into the basics of castle building, especially the inner yard with the stairs and such. Should anyone be interested in this "elderly" map, just e-mail me and I will send you a copy. e-mail address is EppesArt@aol.com

Dear Roshigoth & Tempest, Please do not think I have not attempted to respond to your e-mail. I have posted the map, and a castle file twice, about 9 mininutes of downloading each time (the castle file is made using material presets even for the mote water). I thought this would prove the usability of this greyscale map in Bryce4 despite Metacreations claim that anything from B1 will not prove usable in B4. If I recall correctly, this map was created by Andrew Wallerstein...Credit should always be given, even for old maps from not so great memories. Peace to all, Becky
