Check the route to the OBJ file in your directories. Scott may have moved the original OBJ to another directory to work on a copy rather than the original. I'm fairly sure that that is not the original install path - but I'm at work right now and can't check. If that is the case, use a text editor to modify the CR2 to point to the correct OBJ. Remember, there are two references to the OBJ file in a CR2 Paul

I'm sorry. But I'm completely lost on how to do what you mention. Also, Scott's readme mentioned nothing about redirecting any paths whatsoever. So therefore, I'm still in the dark concerning how to fix this.

Oh, one other thing is happening, also. If I klick O.K. on the error message, (shown in the image above), Poser then says That I'm "out of memory". So what now?

Okay, let's take this step by step. Check the path to the OBJ file in your Poser/Geometries directory. Make a note of the path. Open the CR2 in a text editor (Notepad, WinWord, or use the CR2 Editor from the Free Stuff section). Run a search for ".OBJ" (make sure you don't make the search case sensitive). Inside the CR2, you should find two references to the OBJ file. Make sure that these EXACTLY match the path you noted above. If they don't, edit them so that they do match and save your CR2 - use a slightly different name so you don't overwrite the original CR2. Close the editor and check that the extension on the CR2 you've just saved is still ".CR2" Now open this in Poser and everything should be okay. If the paths match, I'm not too sure what might be causing the problem. And the "out of memory" error? Don't sweat it, I always get these when Poser can't find the correct geometry. Just ignore and carry on. Hope this helps you some Paul

Hob, Paul is correct..Scott's path to the orangutan obj is different than the path Dedicated Digital tells you... You can either do as Paul says or you can move your orangutan path to where Scott has directed it... For instance the path I was directed to install by Dedicated Digital is this...RuntimeGeometries_dd_akprimates ..(The obj is in the primates folder) When I installed Scott's fixed JP's I got the same error message, but instead of editing the CR2 (which I know how, but lazy) I just moved the path as Scott has set up..RuntimeGeometriesprimates...I moved the primates folder (with the obj) out of _dd_ak folder and moved it to Geometries... Either way will correct the problem and are simple to do... ~Cindy

::Slaps forehead and looks very sheepish:: You know Cindy, that didn't even occur to me :) Paul

Sorry folks. Just Before I posted the files. I noticed that the thighs didn't bend right at the hips. So I quickly fixed them and put that new .CR2 file in the zip forgetting to change two pointers to the _dd_akprimates folder. DOH! I'll fix it so points to that folder. ScottA iamsba@aol.com

I'm having more problems with the Orangutan's eyes than anything else.. Happen to have a corrected texture on hand Scott? lol
quesswho posted Fri, 28 January 2000 at 10:28 AM
I had all the same problems but as it was late I decided to go to bed after deleting the annoying primate only to try again this morn(later) Marge

It Should work ok now. Let me know if it doesn't. ScottA
Byte Me Ok posted Fri, 28 January 2000 at 10:44 AM
Thanks Scott, it's much appreciated....=) Marge are you having problems with the eyes too?
ScottA posted Fri, 28 January 2000 at 10:53 AM
I didn't touch the textures or the geometry. But I had a similar problem with the eyes texture not showing up when I installed the files from DD's zip. I was doing other things as well so I'm not sure if this fixed it. But I ended up going into the materials menu and pointed each body part to the "orangutan.jpg" and the eyes to the "orangutan_eyes.jpg" ScottA

The texture didn't work when I first downloaded it (without the fix) and it's not working with the fix either... Maybe it's me or DD sent out the wrong eye texture... Usually I can figure these things out but I've tried everything I know how.. Well, at least the joints are fixed, that's cool.. Thanks! ~Cindy

Sooo.... Scott, are you saying that I should redownload your fix, in order to fix my problem? Paul, thank you for your input. But, I'm not quite ready to start "hacking" the .CR2 files just yet. I'm still a relative newbie at this. But, thank you anyway. Cindy, thank you too. And just for the record, after I saw the texture maps, Dedicated Digital included for the fur ball (errr...I mean orangutan), I was ready to hurl! Those were some INCREDIBLY BAD texture maps!!! Unless you want him to look like a stuffed toy. What I've got in mind is to feed him through UV Mapper, and make all new texture maps for him. ...After I have him working right, of course. And, when these new texture maps are done, I'll make them available to anyone who wants it.

Yup. If you don't want to mess with the folders or .CR2 file pointers. Just download the update again. And start from scratch. Delete all the files. install the Orang. to the folders specified by DD. Then replace the CR2 and .RSR files with the ones from the update. I did this myself to make sure it works. And it does. Sorry about the mix up. I always change the folders for figures to something simpler. And I forgot to set the update back to the default locations. ScottA

No apologies necessary Scott, you did a great job.. The Orangutan was a mess before your fixes, (textures & joints)... I would have trashed him if it hadn't have been for you.. Thanks once again

BTW Hob, I'd love to have your new texture for the orangutan when you get it done... Put me on the list or better yet put it up on the free stuff if you can.....=)
