if i burn my libraries folder onto a dvd is there a way to make poser look for the libraries files on my dvd drive and still be able to see all the folders and previews in the library tab when using poser.

Nope. Those preferences are not available in Poser (unfortunately). It would be nice, though, since those files take up soooooo much space.

The only thing I could recommend is burning the libraries onto disk -- all well labeled so a quick look is all you need -- and temporarily dropping them back into Poser when you needed them. I wouldn't move the Geometries, though, Just In Case.

Of course... you could wait for PBooost. Shouldn't be tooo much longer! I will be adding "off-site" storage of PBooost Banks in version II. One click in PBooostII will allow you to bring in a bunch of libraries stored on another drive or burnt to CD. PBooost's 1st version will not do this, however, being simply a library manager. Hopefully I will be able to allow free upgrades to previous customers. H:)

You could do the stunt if you're using W2K / XP. You can mount drives as sudirectories. So you should burn your dvd and then mount it as poser/runtime/libraries with the disk manager after moving the original subdirectory away. It should work...

thanks evryone i will give the mount drives as sudirectories trick a try
niklas0 posted Wed, 24 April 2002 at 11:02 PM
the mount trick works. you need windows xp or 2000 with a ntfs file system. i copied all the subfolders from inside the libraries folder but not the libraries folder itself. then burned it onto a dvd. you need a empty folder to mount it to so i left the empty libraries folder in the poser directory. from the control panel i opened the administative tools then computer manegment.i went to disk manegment in the storage tree. i oposite clicked on the dvd drive and changed drive letter and path, adding the path "C:Program FilesMetaCreationsPoser 4RuntimeLibraries" . it runs a little slow on start up and when changing the figures but i guess that depends on your drive speed and one the figures or up it runs like normal.
