Got a candle or lamp? Here's how I make them glow - Create a new spot light and set both the Angle Start and the Angle End to 360 degrees (you will have to re-set the max limits by double clicking those dials). You will also need to scale down the light to "fit" inside the prop. Make sure to set the z and y rotates to zero. Set the x rotate to 90 degrees. Hit CRTL-C (copy the settings) Create a second spot and paste the settings. Set this new light to x rotate -90 and place it under the other one. Parent both lights to the prop after getting them set the way you want. You will want to play with the intesities and colors to simulate candle light. Making the lower light less intense helps with the illusion of a candle or other wick-type light source. I have done this with up to 12 lights set in a set of candles around a scene and turned off the other "normal" lights... it makes for a really neat effect. NOTE: Make sure that you do a couple of tet renders. You may have to set the lower light a little higher in the y axis to avoid the "black ring of stupidity" effect i discovered when the spheres of light don't match.

Thanks again Ikyoto. Just don't forget that it could also easily be done in Photoshop too.

The BIG difference is your new technique can be used in animations. If you use Photoshop, it is limited to 2-D art only. Keep creating, Ikyoto!!!

Yeah, so........SHAME ON YOU! You came up with a great technique, (and you probably have even more still hidden away)Don't ever be afraid to share. You do great work. Keep it up!

I've got a great technique...you load the figure into poser then render it to make a 3d picture. I just never posted it before 'cause I thought folks would say "yeah, so..." great idea Ikyoto, I was swearing about making candle light, trying to make three or four spotlights light up the right areas of the figures, this is much easier =) SewerRat
