hello Sihn... can you send a screen capture of these messages to admin@renderosity.com so we can see what's happening?

Hi Audre - I'm not the one getting the error message, it's friends who go to see my art gallery and to be honest, not one of them are savvy enough to do a screen capture. The error message, though, is just as I wrote it above. It's a string of text on a blank page. As to the nudity/violence warning, there is no error message. It used to show up underneath the thumbnail, now it does not.

well, without having a screen grab.. or barring that... can they do a save as and send us the html... that way we know exactly what is being shown without having to guess at where what url, and what exaclty is being shown. can you do a screen grab to show me what you mean about the nudity/violence warning? do you mean under your images or everyone elses?

Sihn, is it your gallery or your artist/home page they can't see? I logged in as a visitor a few days ago and discovered that visitors can't see home pages! I posted about it somewhere....

Did some thorough questioning, Sipapu and Audre. Visitors can't see my homepage, nor can they see my gallery. They get sent to a blank white page that says, You do not have permission to access this page. I logged out to try and duplicate what my friends were getting and it didn't work for me... so, who knows. Audre, I can see the thumbnails in the galleries - what I cannot see and what your screenshot shows is that underneath each thumbnail there used to be a nudity or a violence warning. That's gone. So when I browse through the galleries, I can't tell if the tumbnail image I'm clicking on goes to a violent image or not. This distresses me because I've come across quite a few lately. I don't want to censor any artist for what they create, but I just chose not to look at violent images and sometimes the thumbnail doesn't really show that. When you upload an image, you can click what the adult content is, Nudity or Violence or Both, but unless someone actually puts it in their title, then there is nothing to indicate what the adult content is.

i have a simular problem. i have one friend that can only see my thumbnails but when he tries to access the larger images they attach to he gets an error. i dont remember if he said he got a permission denied error message or if he was getting a broken image icon. he insists on using I.E. instead of netscape. He's the only one that has that problem though. as far as tags go, i frequently see in the forums where it says (nudity) (violence) next to the posts subject line under read new messages but i have never seen anything under any thumbnail that said it was or wasn't.

>can only see my thumbnails but when he tries to access the larger images they attach to he gets an error this is because they don't accept cookies... they need to set their web browser up to accept the cookies we send themCrystalWizard posted Wed, 01 May 2002 at 9:41 PM
an interesting thing that might have some correlation to the blank page that shin's friends are getting...if i click on a store banner, and it doesn't matter which store banner because it happens with any of them, i get a blank page and what looks like cgi text. For example. The store banner on this page right now gives me a blank white page and the following URL http://www.renderosity.com/adclk.ez?ad_no=927&X=21115 it does NOT bring up the store the banner's for or anything else.it does however at least open a different page. Now..I am using an ad filtering firewall call adsubtract and it just might be filtering out the store..dunno. maybe Shin's friends are also using some software that filters out popups and other annoying webcontent and that's what's preventing them from seeing the gallery images.

I dont think it has anything to do with Cookies Audre because I can go to my gallery, click on the thumbnail to get the big image and get the url from that. the url that I can post in these forums or can give to everyone else I know that isn't using I.E. and he STILL can't get the image to show up, while everyone else can

scratches head well, without knowing more about the systems impacted, it's really hard to figure out. if these folks have problems please have them communicate with admin@renderosity.com so we can figure out why they can't see the gallery images!

Will do, Audre. It's a mystery to me, too, since I can't duplicate what they're seeing and not seeing.

there are no violence warnings for the galleries as far as I recall. And as for nudity flags, theres no reason for those to show up because we have the option to show or not show images in the gallery with nudity flags clicked in our member preferences. Nudity and violence flags only appear in the forums. as for visitors viewing galleries, my friend's can see mine fine. There's that link at the bottom of the member gallery page, the direct link to the gallery, doesn't require a member logging in. In exchange for being able to see the images, they can't leave comments or ratings though. If yer buddy can't view the gallery, its an error on his end, not Rosity's, unless there was a server prob or something at the time.
