Hey, im building a complex pic of a department store, and i need to make clothes hanging on racks. I want to do them as 2d sprites, however i have no idea how to do it in Carrara. I want to do it so that light shows through between the arms of the shirts and the body of the shirt. I know this requires transparancy masks, but im very unsure how to do all of it. Anyone who has used Bryce has probably used a similar feature...how do i do it in Carrara? Thanks all.

can you post a picture of what you have so that we can get a better mental image?

Well, I know how to use sprites in RDS, but I dont know how to make a shadow corresponding to the arms. If you want to use a picture with transparent parts, create a pattern with white parts which will be transparent in your 2D program. In the texture editor, load the image and check the "white transparent" option. Apply the texture ot your object : the white parts are transparent. If you want to enhance the realism of the texture, load the same picture in the bump channel (only if some shaded parts are painted on your image !) : the white parts of your picture will automatically be transparent, and the shaded parts will appear as real shadows on your 3D model. Hope this helps. FabienWufnir posted Sat, 04 May 2002 at 8:13 PM
Go to carrara studio site. In the tutorial taket the little planet. You can found what you want in the part 6 of the tutorial. It's an explanation on how to build a tree like a sprite with transparency. I try it an it's very good. Vince.
