Just last week a so-called "artist" was banned from Renderotica for blatantly plagerizing the works of other artists and claiming it as his own. One of the artists was Louis Royo. Others have copied this image but, it was obvious it was a copy, he did not. It was a pixel for pixel representation with a very badly removed signature (apparently he can't even use a color picker). He also plagerized the works of one of Renderotica's more popular artists Il Geco (a work that had been posted here). Again it was a pixel for pixel copy. I don't want to be accused of libel but the artist is Shin_Gouki. I would suggest that people check his works and see if they recognize any of them.

Or Shin Gouki, I think when I copied the user name it added an underscore instead of a space.

And 3D commune, highend 3d as well... I went to his site and you're right Legume, it disappears right out from under you as each page gets looked at!

His ego is only matched by his stupidity "This is one of my greatest works ever" is the comment generally on all of the things he posts. He has 9 images posted here since he was banned at Renderotica. He's already sent me an instant message telling me he wished I would die :)

Your warning to other artists here is appreciated, I'm just sorry you're being targeted in such a nasty way now as a result of it darkjeanette. Hopefully something will be done about him very quickly.

That is an exceptionally well designed site Momcat. It's sad to see something like that stolen and knocked off so badly to boot. Another person is being named as a thief in this forum under another tread. I hope this isn't spelling a rash of them.

I think the kooks are crawling out of the woodwork lately. Have you noticed the sheer volume of viruses going around lately? Not just email either. My Macafee found 4 or 5 of them embedded in websites. I don't think the site owners are aware of them, so I mailed them each time to let them know. It was almost all 3D sites too. Last week I was knocking out 3 or 4 per DAY in my email. What a pain.

Could be. Now I've got this funny little thing in my edit menu of IE, and in my browser title bar. It's in japanese so I can't read it to tell if it's a virus or a new form of javascript spam. I've seen some scripts lately that allow a site to change the title on your task bar. I've got to run a manual scan tonight just to make sure it's all ok. Everything seems to be working fine. All I know is I ain't clickin' on it to find out.

Most of the images have been verified as being copyrighted by someone else, two remain.

Pam, just what I was thinking! It's so common all across the net to see this kind of activity - and lots and LOTS of trolling - at this time of year.

Jeff, are you saying you will allow him to remain even though he blatantly violated copyright on several images and you can not confirm the other two? He should be banned from the site like he was from the others he posted these images on. Does Renderosity's terms of service not protect artists from copyright infringement? I'm just amazed he has been allowed to remain at all. Flabbergasted even.

I would have thought the nasty little instant message to DJ would have been enough cause for him to be banned too. go figure..........

So far I only know a very few of the folks in renderosity. I know that as time moves on I will widen my circle of friends from this community and into other communities. The way I see interaction between communities in this and the other thread is terrific and encouraging!

I am VERY disappointed to see that "his" gallery is still on the site in part. I do not understand why it has not been removed in totality and why he has not been obviously banned. Can one of you explain this to me? This is the single issue I would have expected the administration to not only take VERY seriously but to take a hard nosed stance on. He should have been banned for posting a single stolen image, much less 9 of them. You verified 7 of them, do you HONESTLY believe the other two are his? What further verification do you need? This really makes me uneasy. Don't just tell us action is being taken, show us results.

He's only giving credits to the 3D artists and Royo. I snagged him trying to pass of this image: http://www.horae.dti.ne.jp/~seppy/garally/aku.htm as his own. He ran it through a sketch filter first. At least he's learning how to use his paint program ;P He claims he did it in pen and ink.
