Hey this makes me wonder. Now that I have Carrara do I really need to buy Bryce? I noticed that Carrara came with terrain building and animation features. Items I didn't even know it had until after I bought it (Hey I thought I was just buying a modeller).

Well, Bryce really does lanscapes nice! I like it better than RDS. If it were me I would have both Bryce and Carrara. Clint

I've been working on a Bryce-like landscape in Carrara. I'm hoping to convince myself that I don't need Bryce. Unless Bryce really adds something I can't do in Carrara, I'd rather save the money and buy more models/textures/shaders!

I've had a great time using Bryce, but I'm really impressed by what I can do with Carrara. I'm still poking around in the features, and haven't built a real scene yet, but I'm thinking I won't be using Bryce too much anymore. The textures seem to have more variables, the render engine looks to be a lot faster, and of course, I can create and edit my own shapes. -Jeff

The way I see it having just looked at the manual so far and not yet tested it I don't need Bryce. But I will need a more advanced scenery maker like Vue. It looks like Carrara can do all of the few things that Vue cannot but which Bryce can. I'll have to look deeper to know for sure. But I suspect Bryce is off my list and I can now fully justify getting Vue instead. The only thing left is a decision on Canoma or a similar item (way down the road in the budget). ANYWAY... On this render. Looks pretty good. Looks like Carrara handles poser people pretty well. Anyone try to render one of those transmapped hair thingies yet?

arcaady - I think Darhorn posted an image of Greys hair - I think it used a trans map. It was posted yesterday or the day before. Clint
