Heyas, Ok what kind of saddle did they use in England, mid-18th C? And does such a thing exist for poser? If so, where can I get it? I really don't want to get yelled at for having the wrong tack on the poor beastie :) Logic tells me the English saddle is my answer - but I don't know what it looks like. sigh Daio? Bloodsong? Help? Thanks! Lyrra

There are some pretty good picture type books at the Borders which cover many types of horse equipment both historically and in specific uses, western english aussie etc....I browse often and have picked up a few to build my collection started with horses actually tack is next on my list....

We have both kinds of saddles, if you want to just see a picture of them you can find them at our site. Sharen

The closest thing you are going to find these days to the kind of saddle they would have used in 18th England is a cutback saddle or a dressage saddle - not a hunt seat jumping saddle which is the most common type of "english" saddle you will see today. Try this link for examples http://www.frontierequestrian.com/getProduct.cfm?CatList=15 The first and last saddles on that page are pretty close to the images/drawings I've seen of 19th century english saddles.

Thanks guys :) I think I'll just carefully arrange his coat to cover it though :) Since the only saddle I have is the wrong shape. But thanks for the info! :) Lyrra
