I assume that you exported to .obj format from Poser, then brought the .obj into Bryce?
It's the transparency settings and transmaps, or rather, the lack thereof. Wavefront .obj format doesn't store this information, so you'll have to reapply those within Bryce.

I finally gave up on this. That's the reason I rarely bring Poser figures into Bryce. I'll use the dragon or something that doesn't require transparency, but Mike and Vicki stay in Poser. Their eyes always turn white, too. It's too much work and frustration to get them looking good in Bryce. Plus, they seem to lose some color. They always look faded and washed out in Bryce. I've tried many times to get this to work, but I finally decided it wassn't worth the time and effort for me. Melanie

you have to re-apply the trans maps separately after you import them into bryce....I still don't have the technique perfect yet (tried it with Sharky's Angelyna Wings here and didn't quite get the full transparency...) But as far as skin tones go, you have to remember that the only light you have when you first import into Bryce is the Sunlight...to get good skin tones you need to apply more light in a color you want to project...use a radial light or a spot, just remember to position it so that it's coming from the same direction as the sun. :) The link is an image I just did bringing Stephanie into bryce...I used a big radial light with a skin-toned color applied, like I said, the trans maps on the wings still could use a little work but all in all it came out pretty good..I think :). When you import figures into bryce you can delete parts you don't need...I deleted the eyebrows and pubic hair, since they are part of the skin texture. As far as the White Eye effect, just delete the "eyeball" part since in Poser, it's got a full transparency applied and that won't translate to Bryce. One other thing you need to be careful of is if you color a body part (say fingernails) in Poser using the paintbucket that, also won't translate to bryce....Admin: http://www.artistsagainstcensorship.com

Don't give up Melanie!! :-) I personnally prefer to render my projects in Bryce and always import Poser people in my scenes. There's a really good tutorial for importing Vicky in Bryce at: http://www.awakemm.com/poserarcana/ There is also a little freeware named Grouper which can save you a lot of time in Bryce: it creates a new obj file after "grouping" the parts which have the same material. So you can make your settings in Bryce far more quickly. It can also change "aaaa.bum" by "aaaa.jpg". I don't remember where I've got it, if you are interested I can search the URL.

Thanks, I'll check out the tutorial. I've tried all the techniques and had only marginal success. I always have trouble with the eyes and the hair. I'll keep trying. Melanie

I used the tut at http://www.shar3d.com/tutorials/Transmap.htm to do the transmap. Either I read it wrong or it needs clarification, but I had to flip the middle image back around to original to get it to work. And Grouper is a very good utility to have.

I remember that texture maps have to be rotated in Bryce, but I can never remember which direction to rotate them and how much. Melanie
