I got Poser 4 a few days ago, and ofcourse I already have a question. :) Today I used the parameter dials to make some changes to Victoria's face. I would like to save this face. So I tried to find the answer in the manual, but I always end up saving the entire figure. Does anyone know if and how I can do this? Rynn.

There are several ways of doing this, one is to make a morph target of the face. Select "Export" from the file menu and chose "Wavefront OBJ". The hierarchy editor will appear, make sure that the head is the only body part selected. (It's only settings for the head that you want to export in the morph) Then you assign a file name and a location for the file you are about to create. In the last dialog box, check only the box "Export as morph target". When you want to use the face later, just double click on the head of the character you want to apply the face to. Click "Add morph target" and locate the file you created before. After that, the morph will appear as a dial for the head. Adjust the dial to 1, and you have your face on the figure! You can of course change any other dials after that to make further changes on the new figure. You can also use MOR files, they are explained in numerous threads and tutorials here, do a search on the site. They are easier to apply when you have made them, but it requires a little more understanding of the Poser file types to get them to work properly. Wwelcome to the Poser world and happy rendering :-)

I've always just fixed the face I wanted, then opened the "Face" library, and added the file to a personal foler... i.e. "Lee's Faces" ... Seems to work for me that way... -Lee

Yep, that is even easier! :-) Both methods has it's merits. With the morph target, you can easily apply the morph gradually by adjusting the dial. You can also build a face from several different morph targets since they work independently from each other. The Face file is easier to make and apply, but might get "overrided" by other face or pose files if they contain settings for the same morph channels.

You don't need to export the head mesh to create a Morph Target. Just select the Head mesh by clicking on it and pull down from the Menu/Object/Spawn Morph Target. Give the Morph Target the name of your character. A new dial will appear at the top of the dial menu with the name of your character. You only need to export the Morph Target if you are going to distribute it, otherwise it is an extra step you don't need to take.
